    This offseason we:
    1)Resign Mobes and Norris
2)trade Walt, Drew, and our pick to LAC for Kandi and their pick
    3)let TMass hit the road
4)Draft either Mike Miller, Dermarr, or Porter
    5) sign Rachard Lewis

1 and 3 are self explanatory. 2 works because the Clips need players, especially a point, and they can get a better center in this draft (Mihm, Pryzbilla, or Ndiaye). Kandi gives us a solid 5 and allows Cato to move to the 4 where he has a size advantage. This would allow us to move up enough to get an impact 3. Lewis is a hometown boy who can play either the 2 or 3 and is young.

    our 00-01 team:
    C-Olajuwon/Kandi
    PF-Cato/Thomas/Rogers
    SF-Lewis/Draft Pick/Bullard
    SG-Anderson/Mobes
    PG-Franchise/Norris

I think that would be a good plan to do. Olajuwon could teach the kandi man everything he knows. That would be a great team running the floor.

Even the Clippers wouldn't do that deal. If they're going to trade a likely top 2 pick and Olawakandi to move down 5 to 8 spots in the draft, they could get alot more than Drew and Williams.

    5) sign Rachard Lewis
Seattle has the right of first refusal on Lewis. I don't think that he'll be going anywhere.

also, I don't believe that would be close to working cap-wise.

Rudy and CD have made some great draft choices in recent years but they blew it by not drafting Rashard Lewis. I'm not saying that cause he's from Houston, but what did we get instead? Dickerson was a great pick, Drew was a so so pick (just cause his dad is a coach doesn't mean he has game, just because you make a game winning shot doesn't mean you have game, just because you play college ball doesn't mean you have game). The boy was teary eyed on national television cause the team he grew up watching didn't draft. He vowed revenge and so far he has gotten it. The Sonics traded away Maggette a first round draft pick in 99 to Orlando cause Rashard is their future. Great choice in Mirsad Turkcan just like drafting Zan Tabak, Eric Riley, Serge Zwikker, and the other scrubs Rudy drafted.

For the Clippers to do that deal I think Mobley would have to be thrown in. The Rockets need to keep Mobley cause he is good friends with Francis. If Mobley is happy here in Houston then I think Francis will be more likely to be Franchise and not skip town.

To LAC: Williams, Drew, Mobley (?), Number 1
To HOU: Olowokandi and Number 1

    would you do this?

I think that Lewis might come back to Houston if we offered him a chance to start. In Seattle he is going to be behind Patterson, here he would have the inside track on our starting 3. I think that if we go into the draft with Lewis as our 3 then we could draft one of the good centers (Pryzbilla?) with our pick. That way after Dream retires we start
    C-00 pick
    PF-Cato
    SF-Lewis
    SG-Anderson
    PG-Franchise

then we bring Mobes, Thomas, Moochie, Rogers, Bullard, and a free agent big man off the bench

No way Clips trade away Kandi for 2 bench warmers, plus the pick. I don't think they would trade Kandi for Walt, Drew, and a pick. Big men are hard to come by, and Kandi is a pretty solid center. Unless they land Mihm I don't think he's going anywhere.

I would love to see Demarr in Houston, but he may not come out. Porter is a take if available but may go before the Rockets get on the board. This year's draft seems week unless a lot of underclassmen declare.

I'm a HUGE Cato fan, believe me but (1) has anyone seen Cato run the floor for 60 minutes at the 4 position? I don't think he has the chops and especially if he's going to put up D against people like KG, Grant, Webber and Rasheed. and (2) who's going to back that [Cato] thing up? Kenny Thomas? I think he's going to want to see some starting minutes next season...

P.S. - Does anyone laugh as much as I do when they see Keith Closs running down the floor?

    UT Baller,

I think that Lewis might come back to Houston if we offered him a chance to start.

Problem is that it not just a matter of where Lewis wants to play. Seattle has the right to match any offer that Lewis gets. If Seattle wants to keep Lewis, then there's no way for us to sign him.

Someone mentioned drafting Chris Porter, and while I think Porter brings the defense, size and athleticism, I wonder about his outside shooting. If he can develop a solid 12-18 foot jump shot then I'd say he would be worth the trouble.

I wouldn't trade Mobley for Kandi. The Rockets have more to work with in Cato and Rogers as big men than they do in terms of pure shooters at the number two (Williams as mostly been a bust). And I do think Mo and Stevie work well together. No need to disturb such a groove. Detroit didn't disturb the Thomas/Dumars combo and it lead to two championships. Don't see why H-town can't follow suit.

Treu Seattle has the opportunity to match any offer made to Lewis, but that does not mean that he has to sign with them. Did Utah not have this same chance last summer with Shandon?
