Yao at 27 was no where near what Hakeen was at 27, why is this even a question? Hakeem in all is a top 5 center of all time, 2 championship winner, Hall of Famer, he wasn't injury prone like Yao and he had the fire to be able to lead a team in the regular season and the playoffs.
If Yao leads the Rockets to 3 championships then everybody will be saying that Yao is greater than Hakeem lol.
I put no, because dream isn't better than Yao, he's on a whole different plane. You can't compare the two, dream is (not was) that damn good. Yao is the red headed stepsister in comparison to all the Houston Rocket centers.
yao has never even been counted on to lead the team by himself yet. it's not even a comparison right now.
This is the same exact response I had I mean what kind of questions are these yao or hakeem you have to not be familiar with NBA basketball to ask these kind of questions c'mon
I've decided to vote for the most unimaginably stupid choices possible in all of this guy's posts... just to give the poll some outliers.
My answer to the question would be: It is inconclusive because Hakeem has finished his illustrious career already, and Yao is not even halfway through his career which is off to a great start being a player of his caliber, minus the injuries. But how is this rookie able to create new threads?!! He is indeed a rookie
Wow, my first attempt at starting a thread was shakey at best. This is Baaaad, unless your 7 or something. Then, good job. It's great that you even know how to type at such a young age.
So to my calculations it look slike we got about 7 biased Chinese fans and 2 fans who are too young to remember Hakeem and 1 just complete idiot (there's got to be one right) giving us 10 votes for Yao.
Lol! It'd be an interesting matchup. I think Dream would pull a few moves and school him. Just sad Hakeem's body can't stand up to the rigours of an NBA season anymore!!
Who ever started this thread is probably young or hasn't watched the Rockets with Dream very much and only have seen the highlights of Dream. It's a naive question but remember, there are some very young fans on this board..... Yes, Hakeem is infinitely better than Yao and it's so much so, that it's off the charts. Go with: "Is Yao better than Ralph Sampson?" when both were in their prime.
You are a moron to bring race into the thread. How do you know the race of the people who vote 'no'? Are you just going around to make dumb assumption in order to offend other people? I guess our Chinese posters here are much smarter than a fool like you to cast their votes in a reasonable way than making a dumb assumption like what you have done.
So far it seemed Olajuwon is much better than Yao but then I am not sure how Olajuwon would fare if he is double and triple team before even he got the ball. Maybe someone has seen him play against such double and triple team defensive strategy.
"JustWannaChill", Just chill. There is no reason to call anyone a moron. The man was blatantly joking, and saying that a person living in China picked Yao because they are biased is in no possible way racist. That's like saying I think T-mac is better than Kobe because I live in Houston. My opinion would be biased because I'm a Rockets fan.
