Also his kids don't have his last name of his wife's (Jindal). Instead he gave them the names Selia Elizabeth, Shaan Robert, Slade Ryan. I believe it helps immigrants to assimilate into society but I mean he completely sold out his entire culture. He's of Punjabi descent by blood but that's it.

I think he was Hindu and then became christian which is something that doesn't sit favorable to me. It kind of makes me think he did whatever he needed to fit in.

It's not a religion thing, it's a cultural thing. He sold out not just his religion, but his ancestral last name, and then he joined the Republican Party, which if any minority joins is pretty much looked at as a traitor to his race. He doesn't even go to Punjab and I'm not sure if he even speaks Punjabi either.

You're right. People should have to stay in the religion they were born into. There shouldn't be any freedom to worship who you want to.

No they're not but I mean to be honest he can't really call himself Punjabi anymore because he's cut all ties to his culture.

It's not for me to say but when you convert you become an outcast in a way to those who grew up in the same culture as you.

Uh... Yes they are. And he can call himself whatever the hell he wants, but I'd be fine with just "Bobby Jindal", not "Bobby Jindal, he-of-the-meticulous-ties-to-punjab-culture-who-maintained-his-religion-and-would-not-be-run-over-by-a-tractor"

If they would throw him under a tractor because he chose to change his cultural and/or religious identity, what would you call them?

Ok perhaps that was a big of an exaggeration but what I'm saying is the Punjabi people don't really consider him one of them.

Bobby is the real bigot with his strong views against abortion and then also the fact he wants to REPEAL all hate crime laws.

Don't mistake this for supporting what da1 said (at ALL), but BJ is a sellout loser. He was always Bobby, which is fine. But he didn't convert when he was in HS. He converted after that when he realized he had political aspirations and that it would be helpful in LA politics.

If he converted because he felt a connection with Catholicism, more power to him. If he turned his back on his culture in order to further his political aspirations, I think it's fine for the Indian community to turn their back on him.
