so what i've learned from this is regardless of the outcome, the crazies would still claim conspiracy against Stern. LOL

He's been climbing since he lost a bunch of weight. He's been working with Tim Grover and they're actually claiming he's getting faster/quicker/more athletic. Crazy.

I think you're on the dot. Even though Noah and Tyrus haven't panned out they could or (should) retain them and take Rose instead of Beasley but it still will be a tough decision and they could trade any one of their 4's to take Beasley and retain Hinrich.

The Wolves should pick Bayless IMO,he is much better than Foye and I feel he will be better than Brook Lopez or OJ Mayo but who knows what McHale will do.

He has more upside but does he have the inner desire to improve?

I'm sure he can get better but he lacks natural speed and isn't explosive. I think number 5 is too high for him.

Man... I guess Clutch moved this into a new thread from the NBA Dish.

I was wondering how I started a new thread in a forum I hadn't been in for months.

Can the bulls trade their pick for a sign and trade? I have a feeling they might try do that with the Clippers for Elton Brand.

I also Think the T-Wolves will be brutal if they get another big man. Al Jefferson is amazing, but his +/- when he plays C is terrible. If he can play at his natural position they are going to destroy teams with weak frontcourts.

Im just glad Rose and Beasley will NOT be in the western conference. The West is already super stacked.

    Conspiracy Theory?

Cleveland lands top pick...LeBron James is from Ohio
Chicago lands top pick...Derrick Rose is from Chicago

is this pure coincidence or rigged results?

you have to realise Chicago only had 1.7% of winning. about.com says Stern could have chosen Bulls to win because they lead the league in attendence numbers and they didn't even make the playoffs this year. So Stern chose a Chicago native to rejuvenate Chicago basketball?

    opinions?

    Regarding my last post ^^^^^
not saying its a conspiracy theory at all...but winning with 1.7% percent of winning?!

glad they are not in the WC. Phew I guess this evens out last years Oden/Durant in the West now that Rose/Beasely lands up in the EC.

If there was a conspiracy in place, it would be to make New York relevant again. You better believe they hate the fact that their biggest market team is among the worst in the league and has been for YEARS now.

Chicago had a bad season, but the season before they made some noise in the playoffs. And beyond that, they already have quite a few young and promising players. I'm sure Chicago fans are excited about their future. New York fans on the other hand.... Good lord that organization is a mess. Donnie Walsh and D'Antoni may be a step in the right direction, but they still have to straighten out that roster. Adding Rose could have been huge for them.

The conspiracy in place is that Stern does NOT like tankers. Yes?

Chicago was tops in the NBA in attendance with Kornel David roaming the floor, and the radio/TV ratings have always been big. This is a franchise that -- off the court -- didn't need the rig.

    Also,

    WHEEEEEEEE!

    lol :D

So do you want Rose or Beasly?
And is Heinrich any good or exactly what situation does he need to be good?

And for fantasy purposes: why does Luol Deng not produce better stats? (I'm sorry, but I'm bitter that this guy did nothing for my team this year...1 great fantasy game followed by a bunch of crappy ones)

Yup, exactly. All tanking essentially guarantees you is a top five pick and there's a top five bust in nearly every draft.

Is this strategy REALLY worth it?

I don't live in Chicago and can't listen to the sports radio up there, but I imagine 90% of the chatter is about taking Rose. I watched a bunch of Beasley's games last year because he was on (what seemed like) every week in Houston. I think he will have a better rookie season than Durant did. Despite his stats, Beasley is NOT selfish, doesn't dominate the ball and can score many different ways. Some people say his head may not be on straight but I didn't see anything wrong with his demeanor on the court, even during stressful and frustrating situations. On the other hand, I doubt very much he is as driven and focused on basketball to the extent Durant is.

While Rose may not be as productive as a rookie, over the long term I think he could have a bigger impact on the NBA. I just didn't see him play very much and wasn't able to track his development over the season. But what he did during the NCAA tournament was enough for me.

I think it's amusing that despite New York failing to land the top pick once again, there are still people screaming conspiracy despite the outcome.
