Byrd, D-W.Va., endorsed Barack Obama for president shortly after noon today, focusing on his hope to end the Iraq War. "As people all across this great nation know, I have been one of the most outspoken opponents of the Bush administration's misguided war in Iraq and its saber rattling around the globe," Byrd said. He said he had "no intention of involving myself in the Democratic campaign for President in the midst of West Virginia's primary election. But the stakes this November could not be higher." Byrd praised both Obama and Hillary Clinton, saying their "integrity, honor, love for this country and strong belief in our Constitution I deeply respect... "Barack Obama is a noble-hearted patriot and humble Christian, and he has my full faith and support," Byrd concluded. Read more in Tuesday's Charleston Gazette. [[/rquoter]
Great title. Referring to Byrd as the Klan is more outdated than referring to Bush as a coke head. First Al Qaeda continues to receive money from the drug trade from Afghanistan, and next they endorse the coke head's plans to stay in Iraq.
In more important news, Mr. Buffet supports Obama.............. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/ Buffett supporting Obama Posted: 08:35 PM ET From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney Buffett is supporting Obama. (CNN) — Warren Buffett, a longtime friend of both Hillary and Bill Clinton, told CNN Monday Barack Obama would be his choice for the next President of the United States. Speaking with CNN's Becky Anderson, the billionaire investor said he would gladly vote for either candidate, but said it is clear the senator from Illinois will be the party's nominee. "So it would be Barack Obama, — [he] would be my preference," Buffett said. Buffett had refused to take sides in the prolonged Democratic presidential race. The Nebraska Democrat hosted million dollar fundraisers for both last summer, and had previously held back on endorsing one over the other. Though he reportedly said at the Clinton fundraiser that the New York senator is "the person to run the country." Buffett also has offered Clinton informal advice on the economy, and the two led a question-and-answer session about the economy with voters at a San Francisco campaign event in December. Buffett, the world's richest man according to Forbes Magazine, runs Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc. The company's assets total more than $260 billion.
Byrd could have easily followed the Dixiecrats like Strom into the Republican Party during the Civil Rights Era, but he realized he was wrong and changed his ways. I love it when Repubs bring up Byrd's KKK past because it reminds me of how craven and immoral a large part of their political strategy has been over the last 50 years. The Southern Strategy worked for awhile, but now the chickens are coming home to roost and the GOP will be reduced significantly in their geographic and cultural stronghold while the Dems finally emerge again as the national party.
It's not republicans - it's just basso. Most don't bring it up for the reasons you cited, being smart enough to avoid that minefield. - not our little basso though. He sees the minefield and then puts on his KISS platform boots, whips up a bag of dookie sandwiches to put in a satchel, dangling from his waist, then charges right into the minefield at a full sprint, screaming the "star spangled banner" at the top of his lungs. . Got to love him.
If you think Robert Byrd is anything but a corrupt bigot and a shame to his party, the Senate, and his country, you are either deluded or a shameless party hack.
yup.. pretty childish, and i thought we were all adults here, but oh well... i better keep my mouth shut before i get photoshoped aswell...
to consider anything in this forum as adult is laughable. Grown men b****ing over propaganda doesn't make it any better than the GARM
Since the KKK is now supporting Obama, does this mean you and TJ are going to now support Obama as well?
