Yes, the needs to be vastly superior skill wise to stand a chance, even then it may not be enough due to the physical differences, You will not find any girl that can guard a 6'8" athletic higher schooler like TMAC or Lebron, there just isn't a girl in the world with that kind of physical talent.
Quoted for truth - this is the answer. No one griped about Women's pro soccer, no one gripes about women's pro tennis, no one would gripe about women's pro softball. But most every guy would look at these things as a minor league sport at best (except tennis, probably). The NBA shoves it down our throat as if it is on par. There's resentment about how they wedge WNBA players into the NBA All Star weekend. It's a pure backlash. I don't mind the sport, and I tend to flip to the women's NCAA tourny some in March. But I have no interest watching the WNBA much at all. I tried watching when the Comets were winning, but the fact that 80% of the league has a sloppy looking game/shot makes me look at it more as little league than anything else. I'm not saying they suck or that HS guys would kill them. I played pickup with my college women's team, and they all more than held their own. They can play. But it's a tremendous step down on a relative scale. Evan
I played organized basketball for 7 years, played in elementary, junior high, and high school. The WNBA has always been boring to me. Not to be rude, but you'd have to pay me to attend a game. It has no relevance to anything, I don't get excited about the draft, I don't care about the playoffs, I never notice who wins the championship, nor do I ever hear about it. It just doesn't have the excitement of the NBA. I know some people disagree, and that's cool, I just don't see it.
Props to the WNBA players for finally admitting the truth. Seriously though, it is a crappy ad campaign. The ads would turn off most people, even those who may have an inclination to watch WNBA action.
I'd say the women would likely lose, rather handily. Hell, the 5 or so best ballers at Gregory Gym used to give the UT women all they want. It's genetics. That's why almost any male pro could whip the Williams' sisters. Infact, I think one already did, when he was drunk. Remember Willowridge when TJ Ford played there? That team had Daniel Ewing, Ivan McFarlin and Kenny Taylor. They would kill any wnba team. Picture a Eddy Curry or Stoudamire in high school, who would stop them?
Jeff, What does it tell you when you get 2 more pages of the same posts after yours? It simply reflects the crowd you now have on this once great BBS. For the rest of you guys, they are the best of the women athletes and so what if they are inferior to men? Do you guys talk trash about Floyd Mayweather because he can't go 2 rounds with Mike Tyson? Do you guys stop watching track and field because Donovan Bailey is slower than the race horses? It's a different sport/ different classes. Don't like them, don't watch .... don't have to hate them.
Actually, boxing is no where near as exciting after Mike Tyson left. Barely anyone is intrested in track and field or horse racing as viewing entertainment. No one here is saying they hate the sport, they are wondering why this product is being shoved down the throats of an uninterested market. And I don't think posting in this thread is a reflection of anything. It's simply a topic of discussion. Just like how you make the point that if you don't like the WNBA, then don't watch it. If you're so saddened by number of pages in a thread you don't like, don't post in it
Agreed 100% and also agree with evan's post. What was funny was that I thought about this thread when I saw a commercial last night on TNT for the "funniest sitcom on cable of all-time" in Tyler Perry's House of Payne.
I googled "I love wnba" and it said: Did you mean to search for: I love nba Even google knows that's not right.

when I was at ut sometimes the women team would play in the pick up games with us. a high school team would kill them. its just not the same. anyway, I don't hate the WNBA and I find some of the hate for it uncalled for. what i do hate is the way the nba pushes it down our throats.
What kind of speech impediment does that Indiana player have in the commercial that ran all last night during the Spurs-Hornets game? She made these unbearable commercials almost plague-like.
duh! So do you hate it when they show all of the boxing matches or track and field or horse racing down your throat? Hmmm, noone said they hated the sports? Did you read any posts? Maybe I mis-read the posts but why do you think Jeff said what he said? Right back at you bro. I replied because I didn't like those posts, exactly like you. If you didn't like my post , why did you reply to it?
I don't think its so much a speech impediment as it is a deformation of her lower jaw. When she talked it looked like she kept pouting a little and her lower lip sorta came out more than her top lip and curled. It was really annoying and she sounded sorta lispy. Yet another reason I will never watch the WNBA.
WNBA? It's not really stereotypes that are keeping men from watching women's basketball (like the WNBA thinks). It's just not as exciting as the NBA. I'd rather watch a Rockets regular season game against the Memphis Grizzlies vs. a WNBA Finals game. Plus, where's the eye-candy in the WBNA? It just doesn't appeal to men. Maybe the WNBA should target women and not males. On another note, I love women's tennis. I could watch that all day.
