Let's just say Grizz 'win' the Rose Lotto, would you be open to:

    Miller/Conley - Scola/BJax ? I would think about it, at least.

Do Scola and Navarro have any relationship which would enhance his value to Griz, or JCN to Rox?

Where, how can DM the GM decrease salary sufficient to enable an FA signing?

Rockets are stupid if they do this deal. Scola is an upcoming superstar in the making. He does so many things on the court that help you win games. If you take him out, this team is losing the ability to scratch and fight dirty to win games. Also i do not believe that Scola can't rebound....he was very aggressive from some of the games i seen. Even more so in offensive rebounding.

no, we shouldnt do that. Scola is going to improve next year and he was very important during Yao s absence. Memphis is asking too much.

@#$% the Grizzlies. This season started off with Kobe demanding a trade. Then along comes the Grizzlies front office, with the brilliant idea that instead of trading Kobe to Memphis, they'll trade Memphis to Kobe. So now we're supposed to overcompensate them for that fiasco? Don't think so.

If the Grizzlies do get a top pick and are in a position to take Rose, I'm sure Portland will be tripping over themselves to get Mike Conley. Conley has been Greg Oden's personal point guard for several years and Portland needs a PG. They also have the expendable young (and cheap) assets (Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster, Joel Freeland, Petteri Koponen, possibly Rudy Fernandez) that Memphis would likely crave.

Well the crowd was after booing Gasol in several games in December. He did want out after that. Memphis gave away a huge contract that could potentially block a sale if Michael Heisley chooses to do so, and they actually get a stud guard in return while getting good cap space to go after quality free agents this summer.

They were going nowhere this year with Gasol around February. Add to the fact that few teams around the league were willing to pay the salary tax because Gasol's contract would go over the cap limit. LA seemed the right destination where each of them get a deal done with a win/win situation

No way Scola gets dealt for Miller. Forget it, there are other options. Unless we get the "Gasol Give Away Deal," it is not worth it.

how about chuck hayes and luther head for mike miller? they get to fill 2 positions for this trade

but hell no to scola for miller. scola is a legit PF in this league. and he will only improve, just like he did in the playoffs. like many have said, he's not an all-star, but he fits perfectly with this team.

he's a good defender (all heart and effort though), and quite limited on offense, really. not sure why everyone's going crazy over a guy producing like chris mihm in 05/06.

he's a solid role player, but he wouldn't start for 25 teams in this league.

Your 'point' is well taken. However, the question wasn't whether that was a deal on the table just between Griz/Rox but rather would you be open to that as a balanced, fair return for Scola? (Making Brooks a tradable asset.)

Portland scares the stuffing out of me as they have a good organization with a very good coach and they won a lot of games last year. Now, they have two Lotto picks: Oden and ??? They have young, athletic, high-IQ depth and know they need to add to the mix.

I have heard they have targeted Battier for his on and off court assets. Conley could be superfluous in Grizzland even without Rose (Lowry, JCN, and Crittendon) so he could still be targeted by Blazers.

There are 10 (11 with a healthy Clipper team) likely looking as tho they are play-off contenders next November 1. Portland will be a chic pick to have home court in the first round.

Scola is not going anywhere unless he is used to bring in a big star, not a high quality backup. He isn't the best PF out there, but he may be one of the best for his salary and this is Moreyball we are talking about. When you have two stars taking up most of your cap Scola is the kinda player that you need. I think you would have to pay more $$ to replace what he brings.

Gee...BJax and chump change is not going to land Mike Miller? Hate to say "I told you so"...but I darned sure did.

Now, maybe the reality that Maggette, Artest, Brand, Jamison, Arenas and Dre Miller can't be obtained with BJax and chump change may settle in with a few posters.

Rox would be hugely fortunate to land Mikeal Pietrus with the full MLE.

I'd be trilled to land Pietrus. Of course I don't believe he is worth MLEMLE because he, or any other max MLE FA, will be (real close to) xompletely over the cap and as Lux Cap = MLE X 2.

So, somehow DM the GM will need to wave a magic wand and find a team interested in what we are not so interested in while more interested in their not so interesting stuff than they.

I'd rather go into camp with the same squad and look to deal in February, as necessary, than be handcuffed for years with a deal gone sour.

I bet the Grizz will trade Mike Miller by next February trade deadline the latest no matter what. The Grizz simply has no show with their roster, coach, GM and owner. The most logical future move is to cut cost. So, dont worry about this kind of save face move. They will lower the asking price.

But I do like the Rockets will take a shot at Delfino. I do like his energy on the court and I think he can improve under Rick Adelman.

Are you serious about this last statement? Don't tell me you actually value Pietrus as a player. Maybe it was just a sarcastic line about how hard it is to obtain people. At least I hope so, cause there's been a little too much Pietrus love on this board.

I'm not looking for Darko to put us over the top, it's more about having defense and little bit more offensive ability than Deke. Darko picks his spots, but it's not like we are asking him to do anything but back up the best center in the game. I like Deke, but his legs aren't what they used to be and he looked tired this post season, if Yao gets hurt again it keeps our front line shored up since Darko is a seven footer.

Landry...I don't know about the knee's...it was a freak accident when he got hurt, not a chronic knee problem although he had knee trouble in college. I don't know, it's more of a wait and see for Landry as far as the knee's go, but I still think he will end up being better than Scola in the long run. Scola's great for us now, but he is twenty seven, a little old for a rookie. Landry on the other hand has Stro's ability with a brain to go with it and willingness to hustle, not look lost.

All in all, I still would have to think more about it, but I would never trade Scola for Miller outright that wouldn't be an upgrade; yet, if they sweetened the pot with another decent player then maybe.

Just keep checking the GARM. We always post the news as fast as it can be acquired, generally before you hear it from the mainstream press.

No need to ask for special gimmies from Clutch. If he had anything, he'd have posted it by now.

i'd doubt it. 50-50 chance for that to happen to say the most. landry can't dribble and i'd doubt he can learn that along with a post move at his age. landry isn't that much younger. you can develop a decent to very good jumper like amare, but post moves and dribbling skills are hard and unlikely to develop once you're past certain age.
