To the poster who said "use the MLE to shore up the PF spot"...we have been trying to do that for years and we have failed miserably. We finally have a competent player there. Let's not blow open a hole in the starting lineup (again) to get a better 6th man.

Why the hell do we need to "shore up the PF spot" anyways? If there is just one position where there really shouldn't even be any debate that we're very deep, it's PF. However good you think our PFs our, we definitely need more help at point, and backup swingman, and backup center, in that order. A PF is just not a concern.

If Scola has to go then we have to land a good pick along with Miller or Marc Gasol rights, personally i would do Jackson, Scola, Head for Conley, Miller + Marc Gasol rights but for me that even isn´t a must deal. The Rockets should be very careful if they are considering trade Scola away, second year is usually when an international player really shows improvement, and maybe holding him for a year can get you a shot an a much more legit third star than Miller.

Nevermind, I misunderstood the origins of that comment.

... Yeah, there is just about no scenario involving Houston and Memphis where we give up Scola, get back Miller, and end up a better team. If that's the asking price, no thank you, Memphis.

Yeah... maybe if Scola improved this year, he could get us a much more legit third star... such as Luis Scola?

    No.

We can sign a FA wing player. It is no need to trade Scola.

I meant to say "nor" instead of "now." I am not willing to part with Scola, NOR amI willing to part with Landry for Miller. And Miller's contract and playoff experiences have a lot to do with that.

Memphis already set their market prices. They sold Gasol for .30, and now they're asking for 3.00 for Mike Miller. If that's the case, the NBA should SERIOUSLY look into that situation, unless Stern is the one who forced Memphis to sell Gasol at a discount to Microsof...I mean the Lakers

Here is to hoping that Memphis gets the #1 pick or Miami gets #1 and memphis gets #2.

    Miami Drafts Rose
    Memphis gets Beasley

They won't need scola and therefore will trade miller for a cheaper price.

Conley and Miller are nice but Marc Gasol is an unknown. He doesn't have the hype of Scola coming out from Europe. Say no to trading Luis to the Grizzlies.

Why would they trade him for cheap in this situation?. They just might retain Miller with Beasley or trade him for let us say Maggette.

as good as scola is, management is higher on landry. they think landrys upside is way bigger.

it would be bad trade either way. salary wise its a bad choice

No way for Scola. Clutch is right, they were asking for too much. Why do you he didn't get traded to any other teams.

Scola is a key part of the PF position on this team for the next couple of years. We can't afford to lose him, especially if he improves.

What if we make them put Darko in the pot? Scola, BJ, others for Mike Miller and Darko, but I would never pull a Scola for Miller trade straight up. No, Darko's no starter, but he would be a good back up for Yao or play large at the four. We still have Landry, although he's only going to be in his second year, I think his future potential will be better than Scola's. Then you have Mike Harris and Chuck at your back up spot. I think with some work that Harris can give us the lift we need to make up for Scola. We would have Yao, Darko and Deke at center and Landry, Hayes, and Harris at the four. I think I would pull the Scola trade but only if they include Darko, Miller would more than make up for the scoring slack and Landry and Chuck would still get you the rebounds.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really want to part with Scola and if they don't sweeten their end I wouldn't pull the trigger, but overall it could help us.

With that trade you would be able to put T-Mac back at the SF spot and have Miller as a guard, or still have T-Mac at guard and a huge offensive upgade at the SF instead of Shane. Move Shane to a back up role or a defensive specialist.

I don't get them wanting Scola instead of Landry either. Yeah, Scola is cheap for what he brings to the table, but if you are rebuilding around Rudy Gay, Landry just seems to make more sense long term. He is also cheaper than Scola and also plays better than the money he makes. With Memphis bungling with their big men lately, you'd think they'd want to go with young potential and cheap. I'm pretty sure that the only reason Landry didn't get first team rookie is because of Scola. All that Landry needs to really work on more is the jump shot and maybe work on some post moves. I thought he played great for a rookie on a contending team, just think of what he would have done if he was on a team as a more prominent player.

Darko was supposed to be their 4/5. He is a lazy ass. Forget about him. Landry can improve on his post moves but it will take time. His knee injury is also a cause for concern.

Is it possible that Scola and JCN have a 'relationship' (ala JCN and Pau) and Grizz want Scola to help retain Navarro?

BTW - $ for $ Scola > Miller. Player for Player it's pretty much a wash.

to me, griz wants to get return for gasol and miller combined but gives you only miller after waking up and realizing they got nothing for gasol.

    hello griz, you're screwed.
