Not advocating trading Yao (as everyone says before posting a trade Yao tread)... but I have fallen in love with Kevin Love and here is one scenario where we could move up in the draft and get him. I think a front line of Scola, Laundy, Hayes, Love and Mutumbo would be pretty spectacular...

Houston trades Yao Ming, Luther Head and their first round pick to Chicago
Chicago trades Andres Nocioni and Ben Gordon and their first round pick to Houston

I love Yao's game, etc. I just think this move (if Chicago would do it) would strengthen our front court (Love is suppose to be the greatest passing big man since Walton... perfect for our offense especially when paired with Scola) and give us that third scorer that we are lacking with Gordon. Nocioni is also a pretty good player, hard nosed, etc.

Thoughts (other than my being an idiot)?

    agreed!

Why would you want to break in a rookie center when you have the best in the West?!!!

And after we trade Yao and everyone else you mentioned we can establish a colony on Jupiter and its surrounding moons.

Your responses are prime examples of why this board is worthless half the time. Only a very few posters actually are willing to engage in conversations, trade ideas, etc. Everyone else is only capable of trash talking instead of expressing any sort of intelligent line of reasoning.

Maybe it is a bad idea... but why?

Without doubt we need a third scorer. We demonstrated that in some ways we were as an effective offensive team without Yao and in most ways a better defensive team. If this trade gives us TWO solid rotation players who can both create their own shots and score AND a young player who is projecting as a very good pro... why not?

I like Kevin Love too, but outside of the fact we could get more for Yao in trade, we would now have a huge hole at center, since Love is projected to be a PF, TMac would then demand to be traded, and the team who would want him most would have already shipped us their extras, and we'd be almost overnight at the bottom of the standings, with little hope of getting back into contention anytime soon.

Why would we trade the best center in all basketball, unless we got BETTER? Yao will never be traded anyway, purely based on the marketing value he brings to the team.

There is a reason everyone is ridiculing your post ... :( ... it's not fair, in the best interest of the Rockets, or realistic. Come on, you can do better than that, and it would be better to throw your ideas on existing threads which are brainstorming such attempts to upgrade the team, and not start a new thread.

It's a bad idea because the few times I saw Love play, he reminded me of an imitation of Andrew Bogut. Why would anyone trade Yao for a Bogut clone?

First of all, that trade scenario won't work out because Nocioni wil probably re-sign with the Bulls for more money or if not with the Bulls, probably with another team.

Plus, Ben Gordon is incredibly overrated and will play the same position as Tmac, which isn't a good thing.

Second of all, you would trade Yao just to get someone like Love? Wow the bandwagoning these days.........Yao is already a better passer than Love, and just because you can heave a full court pass with ease doesn't mean you can be as effective in the half court. He can be a decent role player, but to even consider trading Yao for someone like him is ridiculous. Don't listen to hype and bandwagon along, learn to make your own judgment-Love can never be half the player that Yao is!!!! Jesus Christ the bandwagoning behind Love and CDR is beyond amazement

The best part is when he trades our #1 scoring option to give us that "third scorer" we're currently lacking. Genius!

The biggest problem is that if you were going to trade Yao, you shoudl eb able to get a lot more in return....a lot, lot more.

    LOL!

    I think it's a very good trade

    for the bulls,

actually, we do not have to give up the first round pick and can ask more picks and they will still do it.

but I think deke will retire after this trade, tmac will talk about retiring after each game.

Now, there is obviously nothing wrong in thinking about trading Yao, but its a sharp slap to the mouth the proposal that u just threw forward.

A lot of people complain about T-Mac's problems, but even he would warrant more pieces from Chicago than what u just mentioned. You pretty much tried to trade the best center in the West in a 3-man straight up swap.

Kevin Love's ceiling is Brad Miller. You would arguably get slower with him in the post versus Yao. Think about that. Yao Ming gives you 25 and 10. Stick with that.

You might as well trade Yao for David West's nonexistent, less skilled twin brother.

O wait, he's "nonexistent"! Nice try dude
