Ya its a shame, you've convinced me that every player to win a ring is a hall of famer. I'd vote mike james, mark madsen, horry, cassell, and everyone else in!
See to me a HOF is a guy you can build a franchise around. In a borderline cases, rings/winning are taken into account. For example, pippen(who i despise more then any non utah jazz player) is a borderline HOF in terms of his ability. He's not a guy you could build a team around, but he was a great defender and a legit 2nd option, so the 6 rings puts him in.
Pippen will make the HOF despite not being the primary player. He's famous and he was unique. and he got 6 rings. Same thing for Horry. except. 7. And Pippen's team choked against Horry's Lakers. Yeah, Pip and Rasheed left him open again.
Ya thats my point exactly, pippen will make it because he was a great defender for 80 games a year, 40 min a game. He was a legit number 2 option who averaged 16, 6, 5 and 2 steals. You can win if he's the 2nd best player on your team, a team with horry as their 2nd best player would hard a tough time winning 10 games a season. Had pippen played on some random team that didn't have jordan, instead of making 7 all star teams, he would make 3 or 4, and not the HOF, he's an example of a case where rings SHOULD help put a player in the HOF. Plus his playoff numbers were 17.5, 7.5, and 5
Its gonna be a joyous day when Horry makes it! Horry is the example of when the game is on the line, you have someone you can trust to make the shot and win you a championship. like 7 of them.
Barkley, Ewing, and Malone are true HOFers. None won rings like Horry. Horry didn't didn't change the game. Horry didn't make others around him better. I guess the Boston Celtics argument can work for Horry, but the man was just an extremely lucky guy who did the best out of what the game gave him.
I know everyone here hates Pippen but you severely undervalue him in his prime. Yes he benefited from having Jordan as a teammate but Jordan benefited as much for having Pippen as well. The year Jordan retired the Bulls didn't really skip a beat and pushed the Knicks to Game 7 in the ECF while being the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference. Pippen was the leader. Pippen was voted as one of the 50 greatest players in the NBA when those nominations were given. Given the present talent since his retirement he'd definitely hold his position as one of the 50 greatest players of all time even now.
I hate him and everything but he was very very good, however, he was never a guy you could build a franchise around for 10 years

not any hofer can do what he did in that last minute. horry is unique and in a good way. that's why i think he should be in.
i like horry, especially his first couple of year playing for us. don't really care if he gets to the hall. but if they let him in, they'd better let a lot more others in just to be fair.
damn, i'm actually surprised by the voting... i'm not saying he's the best SF to ever play the game, but he's the most clutch by far...he made big shots when it counted and has built a reputation for being super clutch: <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GHkArsWPZbg&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GHkArsWPZbg&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355">
