still i think he is a good player, at least a good bench player ^^ although seems he doesn't want to play from the bench.
That's not a very strong argument when after 3 years and 2 years respectively, they have practically identical shooting percentages in terms of FG's and 3's. Of course, Redick's free throw percentage is a full 10% higher. It's also pretty well understood in the basketball community that players don't shoot as well (especially from distance) when they play limited minutes. Redick only played 8.1 minutes per game this season and still managed percentages of 44.4 / 39.5 / 79.4. When he got at least 15 minutes this year, he scored 12.8 points on 52.8% FG and 50% 3pt.
Oh come on, everyone knows the Rockets don't need shooting like that? It might cause an increase in the cities blood pressure if our perimeter players started hitting shots. DD
And his career FT% was around 93% in college, so you gotta believe that with renewed confidence he has much to gain. We're talking one of the best shooters the NCAA ever saw. And the league might be missing out on the next Mark Price because of a Van Gundy? Sheesh. If I was an agent of an NBA prospect I would tell him to intentionally dog it on the try-outs where a Van Gundy is around.
How much would you be willing to trade for Redick? If he's the next Mark Price, then surely we'd be willing to give up Shane and Landry. Price was amazing. Orlando won't give up that type of player for a steal.
What the hell are you talking about? Mark Price? He is at the end of the depth chart. He barely gets on the court. He has publicly asked to be traded. Head for JJ straight up works and would save Orlando a little money.
Artest was suspended from the pacers. They publicly said he would not come back after he made his trade request. The kings still ended up giving them their leading scorer. The clippers were willing to give up Maggette, another 22ppg scorer on an even better contract. I'm just asking Spacemoth what he would be willing to give up if a bidding war occurred. Several teams would be interested and houston would love the next Mark Price. If he's not willing to give up more than Luther Head or a pick, I have to wonder how much potential he thinks Redick really has.
Ok let's break down the contentions again: 1. JJ Redick was one of the best shooters in college. 2. To say that the Van Gundies are not known for their development of young players is an understatement. 3. Mark Price is the best example of a shorter sharpshooting guard who thrived in the NBA. My statement was not a reference to JJ's talent, so much as it was to how much we don't know about him because the Van Gundies just aren't able to cultivate stars that they draft so much as use them for trade bait in acquiring proven vets.
Redick could average the shooting percentages of Mark Price. And the point guard numbers of Yao. Thats about the amount of point guarding skills Redick has. I'd take him as a replacement for Head. Other than that wouldnt risk too much on him. I could see him being a decent player in Utah for obvious reasons.
Agree - if they trade for Head straight up then I'd consider it as an option. Mind you, Head probably has higher trade value than we give credit for: 39.3% career 3pt % and 9.2ppg career average aren't terrible. 2.4 apg aren't horrid either. I'm not defending Head (he really needs to be gone for next season) but the numbers don't look as horrible as he really is! If we offered him publicly then there's a good chance that a team might take him to use in a backup G role. SO - I'd consider JJ straight up for Luther, but first I'd see what other packages I could put Luther into (ie - him + expirings gives a team a chance to 'play test' him and see if they want to keep an athletic young guard with a good 3pt shot). Either way he HAS to be gone and replaced by a bigger GF (Reddick doesn't fir the 'bigger' bill too well)
