Anything is possible! In the 1996-1997 season Phoenix went from 0-13 to the playoffs and a #7 seed, and would have been a #6 seed and playing Houston in the first round if not for Vancouver. With the bottom part of the playoffs not playing consistent it can happen.
I'm a die-hard Rockets fan...and I will never give up. That being said, I do not expect the Rockets to make the playoffs, but I believe that it can happen. It's the NBA. Miracles happen. Like the Great Dale Robertson once wrote, "Who would of thought the Patriots would win the Superbowl?" Imagine...just imagine, the Rockets put a tremendous winning streak together. I can just hear Marv Albert during one of the weekly Laker games on NBC. "An the Houston Rockets, who many thought their ship had already sunk this season, are now (annoying emphasis) in playoff contention!"
yeah, as much as it hurts to see the Rockets losing, I know it will end sometime. Just look at all the teams that have sucked for years, and they are now playoff teams.....(Dallas, NJ, Boston, Washington...)
It is VERY VERY VERY important to state that, a .500 record WOULD mean playoffs in the West today. Utah are going to be somewhere around .500 after this trip, and Phoenix ill contue to drop, whther they make a deal or not. The Clippers lost Odom for the next 4 weeks, and have no reliable backup C or PF, making it tough on Kandi and Brand. Most of their players have hit a high point already, for example, Q Richardson was playing excellent, and his production is bound to slightly go down. They have a tough stretch of road games coming up. For us: When Mo comes back, we will have a bench finally. Griffin is bound to either continue at an average rate, or even improve. T-Mo has yet to put together a good string of games (hoping it's soon). Cato's playing with fire. Cat is finally playing healthy. What I think? If Francis plays every single game from now on, we finish exactly one game out of the playoffs. 40-42.
Sane, how do you figure Q is on the way down? Q is on the way of surpassing Mobley on the 2 guard ladder. He's stronger, just as good rebounder, younger, better athelete and has a better shot selceion and you say down? The most optimistic Rockets fan can't see the Rockets smelling the playoffs. Looking at the schedule someone posted, its a good chance for us to lose 60% of those as opposed to winning half of them. I've been with them a few yrs, but even i knew after they traded Moses they would suck. The same can be said of their stregnths vs the weakness's vs the West. Even with Francis in the lineup we're just avg to winning games, with him out, done deal.
Richardson's production in terms of FG% and 3pt% has slipped each month so far this year, from a torrid November.
Man, it's really become sad that as a Rocket fan these days, you have to dream of miracles for the Rockets to make the playoffs. Around this time last year I had my doubts about the team making the playoffs, and they were much better off than they are now record wise. The Rockets would have to play like the best team in the league x2 the rest of the way, and....uh.... I just can't see that happening.
....but when I wrote that, I had in mind the Rockets winning on a 3-pointer by Steve Francis at the buzzer in Game 7.
Miggidy Markell, I realize that happened in 1986 AND 1981, but Im talking about 2002-2003 not 80-81 or 85-86. Why dont they ever show any of the Rockets-Celtics games from those Finals on classic sports or NBA.com TV. Some of them went down to the wire.
