Yes he did, he called him a ball stopper numerous times during our streak and it was funny that i think the the only (2) times he dissed him calling him a "Ballstopper" he dropped 32 on dallas, and 30 ish on another team i forgot
Barkley's stint as a Rocket surpassed what Tmac's will be no matter how long he is here. Sorry, but at some point of watching the same thing over and over we need to accept that either Yao or McGrady or both is going to be injured or very banged up entering the playoffs year after year. There is also the fact that Barkley and Dream were big game players. You always felt good with those guys entering the 4th quarter of a playoff game. Nobody can honestly say that about McGrady (or Yao) right now.
Don't count the Rockets out yet. If we can somehow have the whole team healthy for next season during the playoffs we'll be fine.
I'm not talking about just this year. its every year. u know, the jazz last year, the mavs. chuck comes to tmacs defense.
Okay, don't quote me on this, but I read on one of the chron.com's blogs that according to his contract, it has stiff clause that doesn't allow him to get paid more or less. Basically, the clause on his contract won't allow him to take a pay cut even if he wanted to. Is this true? I think Blinebury, or Justice... one of those idiots said that.
Yep, 3 playoff games in which he had no help are definitely indicative of his play during crucial games. Being our best player by far in game 7 last year, and game 6 this year was also a sign that he fades in important games... What irks me is that someone has the gal to come up with this crap when McGrady puts up 40/10/5 in our elimination game.
well, you can't really criticize tmac in the playoffs. he usually brings his game to another level. 28.5, 7, 6 are his playoff career averages.
this year no. last year, of course. blowing a 2-0 lead and not getting that one stat (rebound or clutch shot ) in the 4th quarter.
but then that's nitpicking. how can you blame a guy who put up 29 and 13 in a game 7? he accounted for all but 7 baskets of our team. barkley was a superstar when he played. he knew tmac had always done enough to advance out of the first round. it isn't his fault luther head disappears or his role players don't step up. but we're fixing that. i'm very optimistic with scola and landry.
8 points 2 assists 1 block in the fourth last year - much more than anyone else on this team. Try again with your revisionist history.
You forgot: 6. Careers after basketball Charles - TNT analyst who (purposefully?) says dumb stuff to get a reaction out of people T-mac - Basketball analyst at unknown network who says dumb stuff comparable to 'It feels good to be in the second round' or 'It's on ME!' to get a reaction out of people
Listen Stat boys. I saw that game, its called we couldn't hit any shots and grab any boards in the final minute. blame luther head all you want. he's not getting paid $20 mill a year. yao and tmac FAILED big time. if you are happy with that lost, then something's wrong with you. I wasn't happy, then again, I don't call myself a billion variations of Tmac or Yao or anyone. Rocket fan first. If we keep failing and not get the right mix of people, this will be end of the Barkley era all over again. bad point guards, horrible injuries, etc. Its not acceptable to keep losing in the first round every freaking year, especially if we have home court. during the Barkley era, the goal was to win the championship not get out of the first round. the ceiling was higher. we had players who won championships or been to the finals. and when we lost, Rocket fans were pissed at everybody. No I feel sorry for Charles or I feel sorry for Clyde or I feel sorry for Dream BULLCRAP. today's Rocket fan has gone soft. I'm guilty of going soft too. I feel sorry for the guy. But I shouldn't. I should feel sorry for us Rocket fans, going fishing yet again.
I don't know if Tmac would be a good analyst. Charles has that unique personality that draws people regardless if they like what he says. He says whatever he wants, he doesn't care about it. TNT usually has guest analysts like Webber, Avery Johnson (tonight) etc you get a good gauge of how good they are on tv. On the Current roster, I would say Yao is the funniest and interesting commentator on our team. Whenever he says stuff on TNT, Yao is pretty good. here's a good clip: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/TTZwCgeN7k0&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/TTZwCgeN7k0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8h9iNVo7Rtc&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8h9iNVo7Rtc&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Explain the relevance between what you just said and what I responded to. Enough with the pandering already.
tinman threads rule... as for the question...it depends. I think Barkley had a much, much, MUCH better team around him and he had high expectations. Tmac has had a worse team around him and similar expectations but failed worse. IMO i'm more upset with how the barkley years went down (even if Tmac never gets out of the 1st round) because we gave up 2 championship role players for no reason. In Tmac's situation at worst its a wash but even as he seems to be declining i don't see anyone doing his trade over again. Maybe the suns wouldn't do that trade over again but that was for other reasons. Lets face it we stole Tracy Mcgrady but we paid for Barkley.
its just the truth that you biased fans can't stand. you are biased, look at your moniker. Tmac TOTALLY deserved his criticism a year ago. I agree the team played horrible too, but so did he. He didn't do enough against the Jazz a year ago and we blew a 2-0 lead with home court. "Its on me". He said so himself! your argument ' well he scored 8 points at home against the utah jazz in a game 7' my argument 'we had home court, up 2-0, and you got bothered by harpring, fisher, and when having a chance to win or close out the jazz, you failed' Tmac fan response - its not his fault! fire jvg! trade yao! etc Rocket fan response - its Tmac's fault, its Yao's fault, and its everybody's fault. I REALLY REALLY REALLY Don't care about how many points Tmac had for 1,000,000th time. Its about winning and not losing in front of YOUR FANS.
The reason why we gave up two championship role players is that we got swept by Seattle and had no one in the low post to help Dream out. If you DIDN'T know what the trade was for both situations, and just looked the team record and progress, you'd say the Barkley years were better cause we made to the WCF. if you look at the Tmac trade, you'd notice we were consistent, but the season ends the same way every year. Plus nobody could predict that Shawn Kemp would get fat. Plus nobody could predict our PG situation would be terrible too. We gained the advantage against Seattle but we lost the advantage against the Jazz. Now its deja vu, we have the same disadvantage against the Jazz again!
if houston does NOT advance out of the first round and go to at least the WCF, during the tmac era, whether due to mainly injuries or not, it would be VERY DISAPPOINTING. him and yao are 2 of the top 10 players and it would be a shame that they can't stay healthy to reach their potential. injuries in themselves are huge disappointments. but the era is not over so you can't say anything. our role players are getting better every year. i have faith.
nobody is saying that the era is over. however, the road is showing similar paths. 2 of the top 10 players? how about 3? Drexler, Dream, Barkley how about 3 again? Pippen, Dream, Barkley
