    I think Arby's has a 5 for 5 deal every so often.

I honestly eat at home the most. Not that it is cheaper. It's just better for me.

I really don't want to think about what is in most of this fast food stuff.

    Including Arby's!!!

Lai Lai's on Bellaire close to Gessner in China Town. If you go with 3 people you will spend 4 dollars and have leftovers.

I once found a cigarette butt in the leftover container. Soo good I still ate the food.

Yall live in Houston, and still no mention of Banh Mi sandwiches on Bellaire? They're only like $2.50 or $3.00. Not to mention you can get a massive bowl of Pho for only $6.

    Wendy's FTW.

By far the best 'fast food' out there.

seriously. Go to Chinatown. Tantan, dons cafe, San dong, all very cheap. Tantan maybe the most expensive at around $10 for a meal. But the other places you can easily get away with a good meal for 5 bucks. And it likely won't give you a heart attack in the near future.

Interesting...count me as one of those women who doesn't like to cook, and would love it if it was 50/50. I just don't like the thought of me doing all the cooking and cleaning every single day (like my mom, who would by the way like my dad to help sometimes). He's making the big bucks though, which I can sort of understand. But if two people in a relationship or marriage are making similar money or both working full-time, I think it makes sense to split house duties.

On the other hand, many times women TRY to eat healthier in general by using fresh vegetables, fruit, whatever; a lot of guys I know will only make sandwiches or heat up a frozen meal if they want to "cook." So if I'm already making a stir-fry or something for myself, of course I will make enough for my SO.

I wish I was a fan of cooking, I really do. I just find it boring, and sometimes I would rather take the easy way out and heat up a Lean Cuisine.

Key to a man's heart is his stomach. Not saying that a man should never cook, but for women who can't figure out what a man likes, that's a place to start.

It's interesting how ladies will always lump together "cooking AND cleaning..."

Why is that? Is it to make it sound like a prison sentence and so we will imagine you with an apron, a bonnet, and latex gloves on, scrubbing the stove top after slaving in the kitchen all day over a pot roast?? ;)

We talkin' bout cookin' in this thread. Ain't nobody said nothin' bout no cleanin'!!

In any case, in my house, I cook probably 70% of the time for two reasons:

    1. I love to cook and can really hold my own in the kitchen (or on the grill). It's fun for me, and I really enjoy creating something unique, serving it to my family, and seeing the (hopefully) smile after they taste it. Fun stuff!

    2. My wife is not very good at it, thus she really doesn't enjoy it much.

lol OH HELL YES! Except for me add another Hot and Spicy in there, and that is my exact meal everytime I go to McDonalds.
Also, has anyone tried the Wendy's snack wraps? omg they are horrible, not even close to the McDonalds wraps. The Chick fil a wraps though are the absolute best, they are like double the price of McDonalds and Wendy's but sooo worth it.

I go to Tom's Peasant Pies. I just did in fact: a little hand-held chicken pie for $2.80

This is the neighborhood shop I just visited:

Well after cooking is the cleaning up.

To everyone that likes to cook for themselves or others, I tip my hat to you. And I don't mean microwave or fixing a sandwich.

When I'm hungry, I like to eat right then and there. I can't go through the preparation, then cooking, then cleaning up all the while my stomach is growling (sure I can clean up after I eat, but that makes eating less enjoyable when thinking about cleaning up). Too much of a grind.

Much easier to go through a drive thru.

I like going to those taco stands/roach coaches from time to time, they're usually cheap.

From all my experience and observation, they go hand-in-hand.

Early in our marriage, my husband would "cook". He agrees with you that "cooking and cleaning" do not go hand in hand. The result was that he dirtied every pot in the kitchen to cook a simple meal and I was expected to clean up. Somehow, when I cook - I am still the one who does the clean up. He is now restricted to grilling. He can't mess up the whole kitchen while grilling.

I hate to break the news, but when you cook, you create dirty dishes which then must be cleaned. A concept that is hard for the average male to grasp, I realize.

OK, thread hijack...but I'm going to tie it in because McDonald's is offering a free chicken biscuit breakfast sandwich sometime this week.

Has anyone noticed that McDonald's is trying to steal Chik-Fil-A's chicken sandwich and chicken biscuits? They're calling it a "southern style" chicken sandwich or something. I wonder if I'm just in a test market or they are releasing this sandwich nationwide.

I was really joking. I am a big boy, and realize that dishes are created, unless you are married to the Anal Retentive Chef character from SNL (Phil Hartman days).

In our house, we all put rinse off our dishes and place them in the dishwasher. So really, it's a group effort. It really doesn't create an issue.

    my parents place.

although its a 5 hour drive these days, so I have to stay for like a fortnight and get as many meals in as possible to allow it to still be considered cheap.
