I need to cut(shorten) and mix some songs(mp3s) for some kids for a talent show. What are some good simple programs to accomplish this?

I was just going to do the ol cd to cassette mix tape method but my tape player doesn't seem to be working.

    freeware

    Audacity

i record guitar playing and mix into mp3 file. but the program doesn't fade the ending. so i use Audacity to fade the ending. it does WAY more than just that though. it's multi-tracked mono/stereo software. you can copy and paste segments of songs too. boost, gain, bass, treble, mute, all of that, anywhere on the song.

thanks a bunch yuantian. That's not the program I ended up using, but it did lead me to one that I was able to grasp easier.
