^^^ Okay lamest thread title possible, but I just want see how truly old and grizzled this board is.....of course, I'm only a 19 year old college student who lives and dies by good old classic rock, which is rare for someone of this generation. Yes I appreciate 4-7 minute songs with extra long guitar solos and I also think long overgrown hair and chest hair bared in all its glory is the coolest thing ever. Yes I like songs that may/may not have drug references, but atleast they make more sense than some of the stuff today, especially with the entire rap scene today. Yes I like blues-rock oldies that gets me fantasizing about being a guitar god. Yes I am stuck in the wrong generation! But I'm proud of it! Okay but seriously, I do like some new stuff but mostly I'm old school in every way, and y'all can't deny that everything was purer and better (muscially sound too) in the old days. Even rap had meaning and was fun to listen too.
Define classic? I would say any of the following would apply: RUSH Pink Floyd Led Zep Cream Van Halen Deep Purple Ozzy Black Sabbath Emerson Lake and Palmer Moody Blues There are a few..
I believe it was Mr. Meowgi that stated Galveston beach was created for Mexican beer and Classic Rock. I've been on a Foreigner kick lately.
Yea pretty much, but let me add some of my other favs in there: Tom Petty Jimi Hendrix Bob Dylan The Who The Beatles BTO CCR Journey ....many others But Led Zeppelin is my favorite all time band
Yes there are, its just after listening to Let It Bleed or Katy Lied for the 500th time, I think it's time for something new. I have no problem with classic rock, I love it, but just remember in case you ever start to believe that rock and roll today isn't up to snuff. It is, just make an extra effort to find it cuz it's not going to be on the radio.
Journey? Journey? ****ing Journey? Tambourine Man, Baba O'reilly, Let It Be, Kashmir, Along the Watchtower and.... Don't Stop Believin! Why don't you go take the midnight train to squaresville.

I am a big classic rock fan. I like Lynyrd Skynyrd, The doors, CCR, Tom Petty, Joan Jett, Led Zepplin, ... But I older than you, so it is natural for me to love classic rock and roll.

Man....I'm 32 and fully 75-85% of EVERYTHING I listen to came out before I was born. You, Jason, are a product of an age where artistic expression is NOT encouraged as far as the record companies are concerned. They all want "Band ABC is popular? Find me someone else that sounds like Band ABC, we'll milk it for all its worth, then move onto the next band that sounds like Band ABC." You have good taste in music. Don't be ashamed of it.
Let's add- The Beach Boys Janis Joplin Ten Years After Grand Funk Railroad Alice Cooper Simon and Garfunkle Elton John There are still more....
Perhaps because they didn't see them in concert? I'll really try not to bore everyone with yet another rehash of all the glorious concerts I went to several times a week, from 1967 until "the music died" sometime during the late 70's, but I have to add again that if you are going by what the records sound like from that era, you really don't know how great it was. Almost all the groups and artists back then sounded better live than on their LPs. The ability to capture live performances simply wasn't up to the task and the need to conform to 22 minutes a side on a record placed a huge limitation on what made it to the LPs compared to what they played in a club or a larger venue, when a 5 minute song on the record might be 22 minutes in concert. And it was so freakin' cheap to go. As I mentioned in another thread the other day, Hendrix first played Houston at the Music Hall... a place designed for chamber music, with superb acoustics and about 3500 seats. Jimi and the Experience played two shows that night and general admission was $2.50! You could afford to go to both.
