Stern must be happy now. James Dolan finally dumped IT and has got DW. Then DW hires Mike D'Antoni, who is the coach that represents the brand of entertaining basketball the league promotes. But the Knicks still can use some help. So, Stern must have a gift in his pocket for James Dolan. How about one of the top 2 picks in the draft? I say it here first but dont tell anyone.
When's the lottery again? I also said the Knicks were going to get the #1 pick in 2002 when Yao came out. I thought it was too good of an opportunity for Stern to pass up on. But I guess there was no conspiracy......
If a conspiracy exists why would they give the Knicks a high pick now, and not when Yao, Lebron or Oden were coming out? All of whom were much more marketable names than Beasley or Rose.
i dunno what the knicks situation was with yao or lebron. i think with oden and durant they could have both fit but at the same time the knick situation was so terrible that they would have been a horrible fit in NY with the way things were being done there. now with all new management and coach the knicks can actually build a new identity of sorts. i am sure walsh/d'antoni will try to move any players as much as possible even if they are taking back much less talent wise.
Are you kidding !? The conspiracy is alive and well -- Houston always gets the number one when we need an elite center... Sampson, Hakeem, Yao. You can throw Moses in there as well if you look at the magic it took to get him over to the Rockets (they disbanded an entire league). All of this is because of the "incident" -- I can't go too much into this business, but google ~ Nasa, Roswell, Stern, and sex tape if you dare...
so wait, you mean to tell me it's not sheer coincidence that the NBA has been slumping through the first decade of 2000... ...and the Lakers are resurging with the addition of Pau Gasol (in a trade for a bag of chips) ...and the Celtics are resurging with the additions of KG and RayRay (in a similar trade) ...and now the Knicks pick up a super-exciting coach from Phoenix for unknown reasons, as he's been leading the Suns to great records for the last couple of years? they might get a shot at Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose, too? the glory franchise days are coming back at an opportune time... (the truth is out there)
Celtics - If you look at their trades, they aren't outlandish. They mortgaged their future for a chance to win within the next two seasons. They traded the #5 pick and two starting-quality guards for Ray Allen...that's reasonable. The KG trade was a steal, but it doesn't seem like the T-Wolves were getting better offers. The Bulls wouldn't part with Deng, Suns with Stoudemire...The Celtics package was as good as any. Knicks - They suck and will get a good pick...that's how the lottery works. We certainly shouldn't ever complain about the lottery, as we are beneficiaries of the lottery. Regardless of the roster/history, NY is a prime coaching location, so of course they will have their choice of coaches. Lakers - You got me.
NY Knicks and Memphis with one of the top two picks... That's a solid gold prediction right there, you heard it here first!!!
If you believe that, then you got to believe Stern pushed for that one-sided Gasol trade to turn LA into a contender.
Yep. When it comes to Stern rigging things, I believe everything. Lebron to Cleveland. Yao to Houston. Duncan to SA. Ewing to NY. Hakeem to Houston. Last year he knew that Seattle was threatening to leave so he gave them the 2 pick because he knew that Portland was set with Roy at SG so Durant would be ripe for the picking. He didn't want to help Boston or Memphis or Atlanta out because all three teams blatantly tanked it at the end. Yi Jianliang was gonna be a 5-10 pick so nothin Stern could do there.
And by my logic, Stern doesn't take kindly to tankers. Miami will NOT get one of the top 2 seeds this year I bet.
Stern has made his babies the Celtics and the Lakers relevant again. Only thing left is to do the same for The Knicks. Ive been preaching this to a friend for a few good months now. I'm still a believer of the "Frozen Envelope." theory.
