Click HERE for Travian - Link This game is so addicting, you choose a race (Roman,Gaul,Teuton). Your village sucks as you build it up, you can take your army and conquer.. the build process is a lot of fun, I just finished my Warehouse, Granary.. Upgraded my Farms,Iron Mine,Clay Pit, Woods. Tomorrow I'll create a route and a barracks; then train a few troops for defense. I think if we made a "Clutchfans" Alliance on the game with whoever else joins it could get alllottt of fun because thats the thing, you can alliance your civilization with others such as you have the UN. So as Brain would say to Pinky.. a Clutchfans Alliance will RULE THE WORLD mwhahahaha
Interesting. What's odd is that I play Ikariam.. seems to be very similar? www.ikariam.org Very similar. You can have alliances.. you build your city (and later more cities), military, research science, etc. It's a lot like Civilization in that respect. If you're interested, I'm in the Theta world.. but hey, try both games out and someone tell us the differences!
I tried this game a few months ago. It's a good 'free' web-based game, and I could feel the pull of it's addictiveness, so I stopped playing.
I can't afford to get addicted to this game. When i was stuck on Civilization IV i didn't get up from my computer for hours on end.
Both. At the same time. It's not too bad. I've got a couple guides open for Travian, but I'm kind of flying by the seat of my pants with Ikariam. Kind of just building at random.
yes, alliances don't happen for a bit. You have to research diplomacy and build an embassy in order to join an alliance. (And you have to up your embassy to level 3 if you want to create your own alliance)
Cool. I messaged you in Ikarium. I am at 65,55 (well, my capital is there...my other 3 are clustered around it) I originally started elsewhere, but I moved my capital closer to my friends so that it'd be easier to ship goods back and forth. (Losing cargo ships for hours because you're shipping goods to someone really sucks and isn't worth it) So if anyone is considering moving, I'd really suggest making your 1st colony in your new location, quickly changing it to your capital, and then abandoning your initial colony. Castor--sucks that you started on Sulphur. That's probably the least valuable resource (unless you want an absolutely killer army...but that costs a lot to keep up. It can be fun though) My strategy recommendation to you would be to expand quickly into many colonies, wherever you choose to do so. After expanding, you can start buildling stuff up. While expanding, the main things I'd deal with are just expanding your town hall as necessary, using a tavern to keep your growth healthy, and everything else only as needed. Oh and of course you'll need a little bit of a Research Academy in order to have the ability to build a tavern and such.. (That's not the strategy I followed...just what I'd recommend in hindsight. Once you have multiple colonies producing different resources, it's easier to build up each of colonies.)
Travian was programmed by my girlfriend's cousin. I was addicted to that game for about a year. I co-led my alliance to victory in the end (on welt1.travian.de), but it was like a full-time job in the end...got more and more crazy. 67 villages in the end, and I was top 3 in offensive and defensive ranking and resources stolen. I think if we had not won that game, I would have needed to start over...but I was glad it was over then. I just noticed that there are Travian ads on Clutchfans. Pretty cool because I have obviously been following Travian's growth, and it's an amazing success story - from my girlfriend's cousin just programming this for himself, then people in his college dorm starting to play it and then it spreading like a wildfire. As an example: According to alexa.com, Travian is the no. 8 website in Saudi Arabia. No. 10: Facebook. No. 11: Microsoft...
