GOP's New Slogan Already Being Used To Market Anti-Depressant

Leave it to the tone deaf GOP to find a way of attaching themselves to this election cycle's "change" mandate that simultaneously reinforces the fact that their failed policies have messed up the world to such an inhuman extent that many Americans now live their daily lives in a state of free-floating panic and paralyzing anxiety.

In today's New York Times' Caucus blog, Carl Hulse reports that House Republicans have got themselves a brand-new slogan:

It looks like Republicans will counter the Democratic push for change from the years of the Bush administration with their own pledge to deliver, drum roll please, "the change you deserve." The first element of the party agenda developed over the past few months by the leadership and select party members will focus on family issues.

"Through our "Change You Deserve" message and through our "American Families Agenda," House Republicans will continue our efforts to speak directly to an American public looking for leaders who will offer real solutions for the challenges they confront every day," said the memo prepared for lawmakers.

What the GOP doesn't seem to realize, because they are idiots, is that "the change you deserve" is the registered advertising slogan of Effexor XR, a drug that many of you might have started taking as a result of all the...you know -- terrorism. Effexor, also known as Venlafaxine, is approved for the treatment "of depression, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder in adults." Its common side effects are very much in keeping with the world the House Republicans have striven to build: nausea, apathy, constipation, fatigue, vertigo, sexual dysfunction, sweating, memory loss, and - and I swear I am not making this up - "electric shock-like sensations also called 'brain zaps.'"

Its less common side effects are equally awesome in their appropriateness.

And when the Food And Drug Administration reviewed the ad copy that included the tagline, "The change you deserve," it took issue with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, which manufactures Effexor, saying that the company made "unsubstantiated superiority claims." Sounds like the GOP have picked an ironically accurate tagline for their efforts!

Yes I'm a redneck, Right Wing, Jesus Freak, Whatever you want to label me. I'm proud and not scared. No point just wanted to see what kind of response the thread would get and to encourage other conservatives it is all right to admit that you are a conservative. I know it is politically incorrect but you got to be who you are. I'm just currious to see so many libs are Houston Fans when they should be Faker fans. Bush and McCain are liberals too. But they are better than the socialist Clinton and the Marxist Obama. Borders, Language and Culture. Preserve America and leave my income alone.

Perhaps instead of spending your time stereotyping every one that doesn't meet your agenda, you should instead take some time out for education because from your posts it is clear you have not made it a priority. I know many conservatives that would read this and be ashamed to call you one of theirs.

Centurion: You know the penalty laid down by Roman law for harboring a known criminal?
    Matthias: No.
    Centurion: Crucifixion!
    Matthias: Oh.
    Centurion: Nasty, eh?
    Matthias: Could be worse.
Centurion: What you mean "Could be worse"?
Matthias: Well, you could be stabbed.
Centurion: Stabbed? Takes a second. Crucifixion lasts hours. It's a slow, horrible death.
Matthias: Well, at least it gets you out in the open air.
    Centurion: You're weird!

Please feel free to express yourself here. How would you run your world?

I can't quite figure out if you want to leave everything to the survival of the fittest or the passive tenets of Jesus Christ.

I understand your confusion since the Lakers are the Marxist team. It's odd that all the marxists on the board don't like them.

I'm curious, what do you consider to be American Culture? And how did it develop?

Nah, Michael [Weiner, PhD] Savage is actually an educated man. He is completely filled with hate (or at least acts like to keep his ratings up) but he is educated none the less.

BTW, did you know that Dr. Weiner's son is the founder of Rockstar Drinks?

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition, I have seen the light...

Your eloquent posts have opened my political eyes to the Demoncrats for what they are...

    Certain winners in November.

    Thank you cptcrunch

PS cptcrunch, how did you vote in the assassination poll? Remember it's just a poll, so don't be getting any ideas.

thats the great thing about America, you can think whatever you want to.

At least this guy makes some attempt to tell us why he would vote for McCain, instead of recycling the same lame lines about inexperience, racist comments made by a candidates friends, and whether or not the candidate wore enough patriotic jewelery.

For the record, I'm a registered republican "Jesus freak" myself.

Jeez, what paranoia. The Administration, the Supreme Court, and up until 2006, the Congress all had the trembling courage to whisper that they are Conservatives. It takes absolutely no courage to declare yourself a Conservative in this country, no courage to declare yourself a Christian. Though if you think it does, it certainly plays into the victimized, repressed attitude so many Conservatives seem to want to construct for themselves... and unfortunately, when those people run the country based on those ideas, you can see what a mess it makes.

That's way, way over the line. Everyone here is a Rockets' fan. That's the one thing we don't argue about and the one thing that draws us here. Sport is not broken down by ideological lines. To try and suggest that people who don't have the same political beliefs you do cannot be fans of the Houston Rockets is pathetic. I've read Marx, I've read Lenin, I've read Mao, I support gay rights, don't care for organized religion, I'm a Liberal, I'm going to vote for Obama, and guess what? I'm a lifelong fan of the Rockets and there's nothing you can do about it.

The libs are right -- now is the perfect time to elect a candidate with no executive or legislative experience, extreme left-wing views, who is out of touch with the average citizen, who doesn't exactly bleed red, white, and blue, and who worships under the leadership of a racist, anti-American bigot. Duh!

Contrast that with a patriotic moderate with arguably more foreign policy experience than any other American and a life story of true heroism.
