Like I said before, both D. Will and CP3 are very close in skill and potential. Today Deron Williams looked awfully good and CP3 is having a hard time containing Parker in the 1st half.
After the first couple months of the season it was evident Paul's the best PG in the league. Hornets have a decent PPG ranking at #9 but stats show they're really not a face paced team. If he played at Denver or Golden State's pace (no one does but IF he did) but with the same Hornets players his stats might even be better. Stats are going to have to be what puts Chris Paul as the best of all time, cuz I just dont see anyone ever taking the #1 spot from Magic. In the last 30 years outside of Jordan and Bird who's had the accomplishments, awards, and supporting stats in their career like Magic?
w/o a doubt, the only one that comes close is nash and steve kerr screwed him bad with the addition of o'neal
TP isn't better than Paul, he just has teammates and a coach who are more prepared for playoff action and pressure. While TP is probably my choice for 2nd best PG, he has a big weakness: Very physical play. Since the Hornets aren't into that, TP is having his way. The best way to slow TP down is to pound on him. He doesn't shrink from it as badly as he used to, but it's still effective. Going up against a guy like Chris Paul makes TP lick his chops. Put Chauncey Billups & the Pistons or Deron Williams & the Jazz on the other side and I guarantee you TP won't be looking like Superman anymore.
I don't agree with you on the part hat Chandler makes Paul better I think its the other way around. But I do argee that D-Will is the best PG in the game right now.
Parker did a little better than 20 ppg against D. Will in last season WCF. You're right, not Superman, but certainly not chopped liver, either. I have a feeling the Hornets will try the "knock him down and see if he gets back up" strategy in game 5; that usually doesn't work. The way to slow him is to pack the lane with bodies; leave him NO room to drive. It leaves Bowen, Manu, Finley et al. WIDE open, but it takes away those layups at a 65% clip.
Funny, the same can be said about CP3. Teams should make CP3 play defense. He was killed in the world's by bigger Euro guards. No doubt the kid has exception handle, killer instinct, and all. What I feel he is lacking right now is tempo control and defense.
In the NBA, CP doesn't leave his feet with hard drives to the basket nearly as often as TP. TP looks primarily to finish while CP's first instinct is to pass. The knockdown strategy doesn't work as well on him. However, in game 3 at Dallas, Jason Kidd smacked CP around on offense by backing him down, bumping into him every chance he got and pushing off. It was very effective. TP isn't big enough to use that strategy. CP doesn't have to finish to be effective like TP because he's more versatile. At some point in his career, TP needs to become a better passer off penetration. He leaves his feet way too often for my taste. That all said, I think TP is the 2nd best PG in the NBA. It's ridiculous how many points he scores in the paint. Plus his mid-range jumper is money in the bank. It's been fun watching him grow up in the NBA.
If Chris Paul is the best PG in the NBA, Tony Parker must be the best in the world. If you watched TP wipe out Paul -- he did it with speed.
No. Iverson, Baron davis, Arenas all scored more than him pre all-star. Nash is leading the league in assist pre shaq. Kidd is dropping triple doubles before the trade. Deron Williams and Tony Parker hold their own against him. Billups may not shows it stats wise, but his there and about. CP3 is definitely one of the best, but the best? i say no.
Then don't quote generalities: Specifically name the PGs that are better than Chris Paul. Are you saying CP is the 8th best PG?
