They better let him play on the team since he practically single handedly got them qualified for the darn thing.
    :)

    thanks for the link.

If you mean Walter Herrmann, he requested not to be selected. Out of respect for his past services to their national team it looks like they've granted him his wish. He knows he is on the NBA fringes as a free agent. He wants to concentrate on staying in the NBA.

Does anybody know what happened to Hermann? He had a really good year in Charlotte, then the very next season he doesn't get any playing time and they then trade him some place else where he gets no playing time. I really liked his game. Did he get injured and lose some of his game? Did he clash with the coach? What's the story there?

Basically Charlotte traded for J-Rich and he only got playing time when they were depleted through injury in the previous season anyway. Any hope of playing time disappeared with that.

Getting traded to Detroit was a salary dump move for the Pistons.

OK, that makes perfect sense. I hope he catches on somewhere. He can definitely hit the 3 and grab some boards.

Argentina just needs to back off and let Scola have his offseason.

This is totally ridiculous. He should retire from the national team.

But the injuries should have given him a ton more playing time. Morrison and Sean May were out for the season, and Hermann is a SF/PF.

I kept a close eye on the situation because I made a gamble on him in fantasy bball, I don't understand why he got 0 playing time either.

I don't get it either. You have to assume he's a hard worker, coming from the Argentine national team. He obviously has it in him to be a good player in the NBA, as he showed in his last 15 games of the 06-07 season...

    36.5 minutes per game

    18.6 points
    5.7 rebounds
    1.3 assists
    0.8 steals
    0.3 blocks
    0.8 turnovers

    57.2% FG's
    48.6% 3PT
    78.6% FT's

The more I think about it, the more I'd love to see him on the Rockets if we can't land a bigger name player and end up splitting the MLE. He's a perfect SF backup at 6'9" but can also play sparingly at SG and PF if needed. He should only command a couple of million, I would think.

j-rich (2/3) and wallace (3/4) average nearly 40 mins each. emeka their pseudo franchise player played pf. carrol (2/3) and dudley (3/4) ate up up all the remaining minutes.

as i posted herrmann only got playing time in 06-07 when he was the last man standing.

All players in the US NT should be retired NBA players, 'cause current NBA players need to rest for next season :D

I don't know why people even want to request that NBA players don't play for their countries. That's just so ridiculous. You're probably sitting there thinking, "hey, WE pay you millions of dollars. Please abandon your country and just revolve your life around our franchise".

uhh...no? If they made it into the NBA, they're the best in the world. If one team doesn't want them because they play for their country, I'm sure (for the most part) other teams will be willing to sign them.

There is nothing else to do. Someone else said in another thread that we criticize our US players for not playing and then we turn around and say something else for international players, especially if they are on our team.

That's a really nice team. I hope they do well, and Scola doesn't allow Manu and Obierto to teach him any of their ridiculous soccer diving techniques.

Can anyone explain to me why Argentina/Scola gets a free pass on this one, while China/Yao gets berated for the exact same thing?

Or for that matter, why do people cry foul if Kevin Garnett, Kobe (before this year), etc. choose not to participate?

    I'm just saying... it's a double standard.

simple yao is a rocket and has a history of unfortunate injuries and the chinese national team seems to have yao play in meaningless games for the sake of money (at least that is what is portrayed in the media)

the argentinian team doesnt force its star players to play, like last year in vegas in the FIBAs there was no other nba player on their roster except delfino i believe and scola, everyone else, hermann, manu, oberto, nocioni didnt play and will play in the olympics.

in america there isnt as much patriotism as in other countries.

i for one would have been really upset for yao and in general if he didnt play for china in the olympics this year, but I dont think its fair for him to play in like some miniscule tournament in asia for the sake of the national team getting some money, i dont think its fair for him to risk his body just so someone can make an extra few bucks. it'd be different if it was a FIBA tourney or olympic pre-lims.
