Chicago is likely picking in the top three picks. Wow, they are going to put up a good player next to Brand. Imagine them picking up Kenyon Martin and teaming him up with Brand. Plus, they have all that cap room to sign anybody who want a few million dollars who can play. Chicago is building up pretty good. Chicago did pick great years to suck. The lottery talent pool is great and Chicago is loading up. We'll houston isn't too far behind, but we are getting the left overs from Chicago. Don't get me wrong, if the Rockets would have had last years first pick, they would have picked francis anyways. But, this year we will definatley be getting the left overs. I think the Rockets have to move into the top three slots to get a franchise type player. Everyone else will likley be starting role players!
Do you really think this draft has a "franchise player"? I think that there're some really good-to-awesome players out there, but when I think "franchise players" in retrospect, I think of the following : Tim Duncan Shaq Hakeem Jordan Kevin Garnett Karl Malone I don't see that kind of talent in this draft. Maybe some of the ones coming out may develop into that kind of player; who knows. It appears to be a deep draft, though. ------------------ <this space for rent>
I hope Chicago doesn't get a top 3 or even top 5 pick this year. It would be unfair to not leave it to teams more deserving and that did not get a high pick in the previous draft.
Let's see, they've had the worst record in the NBA two years running, but suddenly a top draft choice in a weak draft is going to make them "awesome"? Shouldn't the Clippers, Nets, Warriors, Wizards, Grizzlies, Celtics, etc. etc. all be awesome by now too?
My "gut" feel is that the Clippers will finally get the #1 overall pick. They'll choose Martin & paired with Odom, will have building blocks for the future. You'll then see them trade for a young point guard. They'll definitely make some phone calls to Houston about Drew's availability. I'll bet Chicago will get the #2 overall pick & listen for trade offers for it. ------------------ Ciao!
Chicago's only concern is if they get the first pick. They would then be able to trade it to the team w/ the 2nd or 3rd (LAC will need Kenyon) merely to be get more cap space plus what they really need... a 2 guard (e.g. Q.Richardson) not a pf since they have Brand
My "gut" feel is that the Clippers will finally get the #1 overall pick. Finally? They had the first choice the year before last.
The strange part about this is that GS, the Clippers and so forth have fallen and can't get up. Chicago fell on purpose and doesn't seem to want to get up out of the lottery. Mango [This message has been edited by Mango (edited March 04, 2000).]
Shouldn't this be in the NBA forum? Anyhow, Chi-Town has a few years before they are back in the playoffs. Lets hope the same can not be said about our Rockets, meaning we should be there next year. ------------------ The key for the Rockets is a winning attitude and mentality which can only be had by winning basketball games. It belongs over there. Vince got happy last night and opened several threads in a row in this forum. Mango
