NHL hockey is poor tv. The rink is too small. Olympic hockey, w/the larger rink, affords the players w/the space to display their skills. Imagine MJ on a smaller court; he'd still shine but.........
Un-f'n-believable...Bravo Turco... The starts play Detriot next which should be a great series...The game friday night wasn't on Vs HD which pissed me off...I can't wait...Stars in 7...
I literally think I can get into any sport once I learn the rules and intricacies of the game. Maybe I just never got into watching hockey because I never really played it when I was younger.
when watching basketball do yall stare at the ball and it's every movement or watch the players to keep track of the ball? same thing with hockey. watch the player movement and you see the puck. maybe it's just easier for me cuz i played.
I think that's a big part of it. Like I just said above, you can't really appreciate a sport until you understand the finer points and intricacies of it. To some people, basketball is boring because they see it as two teams mindlessly running up and down the court and scoring at will without any real strategy. I find that mostly when people don't like a sport it is because they only judge it on a superficial level.
QFT. Sounds a lot like the people that argue against soccer. They don't know anything about the game, yet they say there's no strategy. What it looks like to the untrained eye and what it really is are 2 completely different things.
Those idiots in the NHL front office won't put a team in Houston. We're the largest city in the country to NOT have a team. But Nashville, Columbus, and Raleigh are great hockey towns? I don't give two craps about hockey because we don't have an NHL team, and it's not a good TV game. Watching hockey on TV is boring; you have to actually be there for it to be entertaining. Oh, and I DO like the glow puck. I just think they should've used it for like the first half of the first period or for specific plays instead of the whole game. My dad's from Philly, so that'd naturally make me root for the Flyers (along with my Eagles). I've tried getting into hockey, and I love going to Aeros games. But until Gary Bettman pulls his head out of his tuckus, I don't think there's much hope for me (and most of Houston) to become hockey fans. To finish, I'd like to quote Bill Simmons, who's absolutely right on this one. They need to move Nashville, Columbus, Anaheim, Atlanta, and Carolina to Quebec City, Winnipeg, Milwaukee, Seattle, and Hartford. If the league wants to take a chance, they should put a team in Houston.
QFT. Back in college, I went to every home college hockey game (Go Big Red!), complete with team jersey and hat. And I cheered like crazy and had a great time. But I've since moved on from college, and I don't have a team to follow in the NHL. Give Houston an NHL team, and I'd definitely get back into the game. Until that day, though, my interest in pro hockey will remain pretty much zero.
Winner. That's me... I just happened to see that a game was on last night, and the NBA was already off. Live sports are usually better than highlights. But if highlights of a Houston team were on, the hockey wouldn't be on my tv.
I'm a HUGE Stars fan. My uncle used to be the video replay judge guy. I live on the east coast now so I was up until 2:30 am watching the game, and I had two exams today. I woulda been some kinda pissed if they woulda lost though. I probably wouldn't even be much of a hockey fan at all if it weren't for the 1999 Stanley Cup run for the Stars. It was the first time I was really introduced to hockey and had a team to root for... and I will never forget that goal by Brett Hull in triple OT. That's definitely one of my top 3 sports moments ever.
I hate the Stars like I hate all Dallas things. I'm a Red Wings guy. I can't remember where I read it, but the Aeros would have been in the NHL after the AHL or What HL desolved. They just never made it.
I watch it occasionally, but there's no NHL team in Houston. I was really hoping the Pens would come here a few years back when they considered relocating the team.
Get rid of the blue line and the red line and those stupid rules about the puck crossing before a player and prohibiting two line passes. Hockey needs more fast breaks.
I was a big Panthers fan when I lived in Miami, even having attended many games in person, but I've pretty much ignored the NHL since moving to Houston. The Panthers are never on TV, and to be honest, televised hockey isn't nearly as exciting as live hockey.
i like any sport pretty much if im at the event. if its on tv i probably will not watch it. i dont really kno why.
man... down 4-0 with a minute left in the 2nd. the stars finally get on the board, and head to the 2nd intermission down 4-1. these versus announcers sound like red wing fans.
