If the Wizards lose both guys, they are dead in the water. I don't take Gilbert at his word. If Jamison leaves and the Wizards offer him more money than anyone else, he will stay IMO.

    Id resign Jamison.
And throw everything at Elton Brand.

They competed without Arenas (not saying they're better without him)
I think Butler will be better with the increased opportunities and responsibility placed on him to create from the perimeter.

    Brand, Jamison, Butler.
You can mix and match numerous lineup changes with that.

I don't know if they can afford it.
But if it wasn't too farfetched and i was their GM.. I'd go with it

While watching a Cavs/Wiz game during the first round, I had a dream that Jamison and Arenas split the MLE to join the Rockets. It'll never happen, but thanks for keeping my dream alive, Gil! :D

Its funny that Gilbert also fails to say "If he comes back, then i'm definitely coming back also"

He's trying to make sure that Jamison gets paid. Which is nice, from a friend standpoint.

But caving in and giving him a bucket of money hurts that team in the long run.

Since it's not happening to our team, I really can't fault the guy. He's looking out for his buddy. On top of that, a team can trade a player and ship them away from their home at any time, without their consent. This is the one time where a player has real bargaining chips.
