I have a old computer, Compaq Presario Mod. 5003US, With Pentium III Processor 933 mhz. Can I swap out the processor with a Pentium 4 2.67mhz Thanks in advance guys. Jack
I'm guessing he's looking for a cheap upgrade. Likely, the only parts in the computer with any possible value are the hard drives and maybe a CD burner. (which are likely slow as heck by todays standards) She's ready for the bone yard.
I know the sockets are different... I think? Check THIS OUT: http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/ (has photos) Ummm... why couldn't I do that? I kid. Really, Samurai Jack? What's wrong with it, or do you have an idea what it will take to revive it?
Please...............just humor me I just got my hands on the Dell Dimension 2400 for nothing, Just wondered if I could.
I Dont think it's the power supply, I do see a green light on the Motherboard, but nothing else, no fans, nothing.
If you want to make an old machine useful for normal every day task (internet, email, word processing) through Ubuntu on it. Ubuntu isn't the hog that XP is and can give life to your old machines.
