What are some interesting places to go I need restaurants, clubs, bars, etc. -- emphasis on NW SA near camp bullis. I know very little of SA. My little bro is a marine reserve who was called up to go to Cuba for the next 9-12 months. He has been at Camp Bullis doing prepratory training and will get liberty this weekend before his flight to Cuba.
Pack some heat on the freeways, and dont get lost downtown or you will wind up in a ghetto or some gangs turf......
The San Antonio ghettos aren't too bad . . . I think there've been a bunch of threads on restaurants in SA, but some places to look out for: Clubs: I like Observatory (North on 281) and The Atrium. I haven't been, but everyone I talk to loves "Howl at the Moon". Restaurants: Good mexican food is all over the place -- Antojito's on Culebra just before 36th street is great, but it's only open a short time during the day. The marketplace downtown has some great mexican restaurants down there. On the riverwalk, for fun, check out "Dick's Last Resort". SA has some good golfing in it, and this is such a nice weekend.
When driving in San Antonio, watch out for the following: on the feeder roads, when the freeway lets out onto the feeder, there is a Yield sign. In San Antonio, about 1/2 the people will stop at the yield sign. Even if there's no one coming, so watch out. If there is someone coming off the freeway, slow down and let him get onto the feeder road -- let everyone on the ramp get off, then you can go . . . it's just the way that traffic works there. People coming off the freeway will not slow down to merge, they'll just take the right of way and "merge" at 70 A lot of roads don't have lane dividers . . . some are like 1.7 lanes, and at times, they'll act as 2 lanes, and at times they'll act as 1 big lane. It's weird . . . just go with it. Roads don't always go where you expect them to go . . . they wind around A LOT . . .
