It's entirely possible that you have gone to the amputee alliance and asked for a hand. But...

My ma would make diaper cakes for the poppin ladies. Buy diapers, some ribbons, make round tiers one atop another... voila. Diaper cake.

Don't think like a tourist. Babies can't use key chains. Think utility. Necessities are more appreciated than novelties to newly parents.

    If I was a newborn, I think I would like a blender.

If you have some kind of Baby Superstore, a gift card would be appreciated. Diapers are tough to store, so most people don't "buy ahead" that long.

The only 3 gifts you should give a newborn (I have 4 kids)

    1. Diapers
    2. Formula ( If they are not breastfeeding)
    3. Wal-Mart gift card ( So they can buy the Diaper and Forumla )

Forget the toys and cute little outfits

Throw me in the Wal-Mart/Target gift card crowd. New babies are expensive. Hopefully this kid is breast feeding. Formula is horrible.

Yeah, but Target has the CUTEST stuff!

Take this or leave it, but when friends of mine that are Christians have babies, I buy them a "Baby's First Bible", and personalize it with their name, and usually some writing. It's a full Bible with illustrated bible stories within it.

If they're not Christian, I buy clothes or a photo album.

A sensory depravation tank will give the child all it needs to truly stand out from its peers at a later date.

You can never go wrong with diapers! NB size diapers.

    or

    -flowers
    -picture frame
    -dad hat
    -bottles
    -outfit
    -gift card to babiesRus

I think useful gifts are the best.

I agree with the diapers or giftcard. I personally like Target the most as far as a giftcard.

But Target/Walmart diapers are total garbage. They leak like crazy.

But maybe a first time parent of a newborn won't be able to tell the difference.

    :)
