I used to be a Karl Malone supporter. There are a few things to admire: sucha s the fact that he kept in magnificent physical condition and gradually bulked up over the years without using steroids (to my knowledge). The truth is, he was a great player, and he could have won a championship had he not resorted to continuous, unrepetant ruthless tactics. He was one of the greatest forwards in history who also became one of the greatest losers. He was a ruthless rampaging ravenous rebel without a just cause who deserved to go ringless. The Detroit Pistons of the late 80's and early 90's became a dirty team to deal with the physical play of the Celtics. Yes, they took the physical toughness too far and that's why we have flagrant fouls, but the Jazz even after all the rules were in place, cheated and were allowed to cheat. The swinging of the elbows was mandated for years in the league, but disallowed because of the damage it could effect a player (i.e. when Malone nailed Robinson with one of his infamous swinging elbows). Illegal screens such as carrying Drexler were allowed in the infamous 1997 Game 6 Western Conference Final theft by the Jazz. I do not hate Karl Malone, but I don't like him. I very much do not like Karl Malone and the Jazz. I hope the name Jazz is returned to New Orleans some day and the Jazz can inherit the nickname of Two Faced Traitors or the Utah Vipers. Feel free to post your dislike about Malone and the Jazz, but I am just asking we don't have this thread degenerate into a flame war.
I started a similar thread right after we were eliminated. It's not just Malone. It's every Jazz player during Sloan's tenure. He's the dirtiest coach in NBA history, and he convinces his players to play dirty, foul hard, flop...anything to get the win. The thing is, they will never win playing like that. Karma will get you every time.
Im pretty sure those bad boys from detroit won a couple. Hmmmmmmmmmm They must have been Karma resistant.
