Nice analysis there Clutch. Please talk about Sloan using AK47 on Tmac. That was a big key to Tmac's troubles last night IMO.
Calling in didn't work this morning, no one answered. This morning's segment: lame. Boozer should have fouled out by the 3rd quarter. Spurs and Jazz traded big-lead victories the last 2 weeks of the season.
We're on in 15 minutes ... if you guys have any topics you want discussed, you know what to do -- thanks
The major starting lineup change next year will be Yao Ming. This team is not far away, I think you add a guy like Mario Chalmers to replace luther Head and joey dorsey to replace chuck hayes and this team is a championship team.
Clutch, could you and the guys please address Feigen's take today in the Chronicle on how the Rox have to match the Jazz's intensity and beat their style of play? Also please speak to McGrady's little whine at the end about Mutumbo. Sadly, I have come to expect this sort of thing from him so I wasn't surprised to see him throw Adleman under the bus.
what do we do for backup center next season if deke retires? when does AB take over the reigns at point?
Clutch, I know you usually sticky this thread but didn't know if you're going to have one tomorrow morning since we're done. Are you going to continue the Sunday morning and Thursday morning shows during the playoffs and offseason? Especially during the draft and free agency period. A few topics to discuss: 1. Novak: can Adelman make him into a viable rotation player? Perhaps into a Peja role? I think Peja is a better all around player then Novak, and that says alot since Peja is below par on D and not the greatest athletically either. And Peja seemed to have a higher ceiling when he was drafted since he was picked 14th in the 96 draft and Novak was a 2nd rounder. Busts can happen in any draft pick but when you're drafted out of a major college like Marquette, you've more then likely been scouted thoroughly. 2. Head: Is it time to move him? I think so, his potential is realized, and he is what he is. Time to let the ship sail on him. 3. Hayes: We really need to stop depending on him to be a rotation player. I understand with the Yao injury and Landry going down for a awhile that we had to turn to him again, but next year if he's still part of the regular rotation, then it means Landry has struggled with his development and we haven't addressed the backup C situation if Deke retires. A healthy Landry playing well and an NBA viable backup C who's tall and can slide to the PF seamlessly means that Hayes will be where he belongs: at the end of the bench except for spot situations. I say NBA viable because the jury is still out on Loren Woods, and Jackie Butler is not. Pipe dream: I really want LaMarcus Aldridge, or someone of his ilk. 4. Can we really package some of our players not named Yao, Tmac, Scola, and Landry (my untouchables, who's yours?) and get a realistic good player that can help us? Is getting Mike Miller realistic without including Battier in a trade package? Is Ron Artest realistic or even a good idea to sign as a free agent if he opts out, realizing he may be out of our budget? Let's hope that Aaron continues to develop and becomes the backup PG or Francis makes a full recovery so that we can use Bobby's expiring contract as part of a package deal. 5. What is #1 on our offseason to do list? That 3rd scorer? Backup C/PF? Supplant Rafer with a better PG? (Signing Landry long term is a no brainer) 6. Are Tmac's and Yao's max contracts not allowing us to get better players around them? In closing, I'm proud of this team of what it accomplished this year with all the injuries, and the 22 win streak is amazing....but getting blown out on an elimination game again is getting old. And it's the same story, Tmac showed up but the rest of the cast couldn't pull their weight (outside of Scola). I look at our roster and outside of Tmac, Yao, Scola, and Landry, I get the sinking feeling that we're not good enough to go deep in the playoffs. I'm crossing my fingers that Morey will work his magic again in the draft and other roster moves.
It seems like we've asked this question throughout franchise history. Even when we were winning rings, people were bemoaning point guard play. (cue Disney music)
Clutch, I called in to the show and told them to ask you what do you feel that management is planning for next season considering our salary cap situation and limited tradable assets.
I had more to go on the call, but got slammed by the break. Here are the options that I would like to see. Look at trading Battier for players like: Magette, Miller or Artest..... Sign Gerald Green to a low contract and let him soak in the professionalism of the Rockets team. Also, as good as Rafer is....we need a different kind of PG, one that penetrates, and sets the table for the other players....someone who can hit the mid range shot, take advantage of the open creases in the defense when Tmac and Yao are doubled. Tmac is doubled up around the 3pt line and Yao on the block...so that leaves the 12-18 foot spot on the floor...WIDE OPEN...got to find someone to hit that shot. Also, Novak....players start to peak by year 3.....last year deer in headlights, this year, great shooter, terrible D....My hope...next year....great shooter, below average defender.......at least then we can get him in the lineup. And guys at 1560.....SKYPE...any progress? DD
Oh, and sign V-Span !! All kidding aside, if you can't get Mike Miller.....look at Calderon or TJ Ford Also, would you do the Travis Outlaw trade for Battier? As for Brooks, he is going to be this team's Bobby Jackson from Sacremento role. You guys are gonna talk RR express too? I have season tickets ! DD
Yeah, my fault -- didn't think I was on today so I got on late. We're on now though. http://www.1560thegame.com
Clutch - Didn't mean to embarass you with the short e-mail. Unlike my very lengthy posts, my e-mails are usually VERY short. Enjoyed the (albeit short) show. Your points about Melo/TMac and the Rockets' summer were spot on. Have a great Mom's Day.
KGOW was promoting a "rumor" that Clutch was going to break. Unfortunately, the wind here knocked out my Roadrunner and I missed most of Clutch's airtime. What was the rumor?
