Talent of team 79 Team Chemistry 96 Youth Prospects 97 Injury Avoidance 60 Average those and you get something near 82, that's my grade for Morey.
A- Brought in Scola was great. It would have looked even greater if Yao had not been injured. Picking Landry was good but he is undersized. Brooks, not our PG of future for sure: shooting first, severely undersized, bad defense. From what I have seen, he would be a little better than John Lucas.
Honestly we should look into hiring whomever the WWE has as their trainers, cause those guys go 46 weeks a year without an offseason and don't get injured nearly as often. lol. I don't know about Keith Jones, all I can say is from an outsiders perspective is that I hate the fact that this team is set back this hard by injuries. How do other teams get around it so much? Maybe its more common than I think.
I hope you're right but I didn't like that he didn't show up once during the playoffs to support the team.
C A pass. Not worse than CD, nor better than CD. He needs to add someone who can shot the ball with consistency. It's supposed to be easy with all the database and statistic tools Morey had. Sub 15 point quarters belong to teams like the Bobcats, not the Rockets.
I agree here. Brooks doesn't look like he know the game so far. He doesn't know when to shot, when to pass and when to dribble and how to take the advantage of his quickness. His no different from most other mid first round rookies I have seen.
I used to think that CD made good moves because he was daring. But after looking back the last ten years, he really has made a number of poor personnel moves, such as Eddie Griffin, Bryce Drew, Dan Langhi, Jason Collier, etc. Of course, he did have some successes like Francis, Mobley and Yao.
So you want the Rockets to roid up like the WWE? Btw, wrestling is fake. The Phoenix Suns trainers made it a point to show Shaq that they have a history of taking players with known ailments and minimizing them through training techniques. maybe we should look into hiring those guys.
Drafting: Landry: most props to Cooper, but Morey is the guy who makes decision. good. Scola: CD helps, but good work. AB: RA major help, fair to good work. Signing: SF, MJ: not good. trade: Bonzi/BJ: hard to grade since Rafer got hurt. Fair to below average. Overall: B+
Overall I think Morey did an excellent job. Scola and Landry are going to be a good combo at the 4 and I'm tired of people talking about the bonzi trade being bad. If we don't have Jackson in the Jazz series, it doesn't even go 6 games. Would you have wanted to play the combination of Luther Head and Aaron Brooks that many minuets without Rafer?
I'll give him an A+ BECAUSE of the Bonzi trade ... great move. 1) BJ gave us a better backup PG 2) Bonzi was the last of our knuckleheads. It was addition by subtraction, except for when we play San Antonio with Yao in the lineup. We played harder after he was gone, since Battier became the primary influence. 3) BJ was able to teach our players Adelman's system much faster, so it actually got implemented this year. They just didn't get it, until Bobby showed them. 4) BJ converts Mike James and Wells into an expiring we can trade for a rotation player this next year. If we'd have had him this year, we'd have gotten Miller. 5) Rafer got better, because he didn't have to play as many minutes with BJ able to step in as instant energy off the bench. The Scola trade was amazing. A starter for MeSpan and taking on Butlers contract. Landry and Brooks that late in the draft. Awesome. Even though Francis got injured, he didn't cost us much, and if he does have any gas left in the tank, it'll be a great deal. No downside, except a roster spot. Snatching Harris back at the end of the season. Even the trade for James was converted into BJ's expiring contract. We got a lot for a little. We've been pretty good at trading, but our drafts have sucked for the last 10 years. I feel much better with him at the helm in the offseason. ... definitely impressed, in spite of GATOR's rants. ...
A There was only so much he could do in one offseason. I'm sure he'll work on getting the team some shooters this offseason. He already upgraded our PF position significantly without expending too much. Along with having coach Adelman the outlook is bright. Good coach and good GM will always yield good players.
I think the Francis deal was Les move (Marketing) but he can maybe give us something next year. It was cheap so not a big deal.
Great year for morey, except for EPIC FAILURE OF THE BOBBY JACKSON TRADE. but it got us rid of mike james contract; but truly that was his own blunder by just trading juwan howard away. Juwan howard's contract = bobby jackson. So we woulda had bonzi in the playoffs.
I only dissagree with Bobby trade. Of course I belive Bobby is great guy, I have seen a lot of great games by him but we saw what he showed in playoffs...nothing... I'd like to still have Bonzi because he can score, he can carry the team. Maybe he is not good shooter but he can play. Again, I don't think lack of health was Morey's fault. But the future (with some changes this offseason) looks bright
Draft: Landry good pickup. Brooks & Newley, TBD. Though Brooks shows promise. B Free Agents: Francis, bust Mike Harris, useful Loren Woods, TBD D Trade: Mike James, major bust considering JHo's contract was a season shorter Bobby Jackson, very good move filled a need. C Overall C+
I give him a A I think the Bonzi trade was a good way to rid ourself of Mike James other wise we dont have enough cap space and would be stuck with James. He was thinking the right thing to do is to keep looking forward into the next season and what to do the get a piece for another key piece the following season. But Yao went down just after that and of course Bonzi would help this season but next year we would be stuck with James and less cap space and value for another trade. I truely believe Morey already knew what to do before he even made the trade for Jackson. I believe Dawson gave him a pointer of what to do before he left and what plans were all along incase there was a unfinsihed deal in the works that nobody knows about required a couple years to finish the verbal deal. That Rudy Gay trade is questonable to me i believe that deal was more about Memphis wanting Gay then us wanting Battier and they could only offer half the piece of the finalized deal at the time.
