I have to say, yet another awardless season for the rockets. The rockets were literally candidates of every single award, but winners of none. Battier was a candidate of two awards, NBA sportsmanship and NBA defensive player of the year. He came second in NBA sportsmanship award (the winner was Grant Hill) and Garnett won the DPOY.

Adelman only managed to come third despite all his efforts. Scola also came third in rookie of the year award. Alston wasn't even close in most improved player.

I have to say, nobody deserves more award in our team than Battier this year. Sportsmanship award goes to Grant Hill? What has Grant Hill ever done? Battier has been playing on a team that has been missing its key pieces, but yet he only comes second in the award. Battier should've been defensive player of the year last year, and this year, he also should've been one. Battier is always coming third or second, never first.................

Didn't surprise me. We always get overlooked.

it's kind of fitting for our season isnt it? the reason we love this team is their ridiculous determination and blah blah blah...never cus they're the front runners or most talented group of players.

i know awards like D player of year could easily apply to "these kinds of players," but obviously it didnt this year.

no awards, with just as much love. its pretty special.

Yeah, I agree but you know, it is tough when you are typed to win awards (Shane DPOY, Adelman COY) and in fact you get nothing,

But we better first get out of that 1st round

Greg Anthony just picked the Rockets to win game 6, and if that, win in 7 on Sportscenter.

    So... that's like.. something. ;)

No respect that was all about. It is time to earn those respects by coming back to Houston with game 7.

Battier came second, but come on give this guy the award. Grant Hill comes out from nowhere to play in phoenix, and suddenly he gets the award? Battier deserves at least some recognition for what he has done for the rockets. He has played good defense, showed respect to other players. Grant Hill just started playing again and he immediately gets the award.... I guess they have to give him something for coming back to the league.....

Homerism aside, those finishes sound about right. The fact that Battier finished in the top-three shows he's getting respect.
