This team may not be Clutch City, but they have no less heart than those championship teams of the past.
Stop all that talk about jinxing. Clutch City was about winning championships, but Clutch City was also about never doubting the team no matter what hole they dug for themselves, no matter how long the odds looked, and no matter what the press or doubters said. The Rockets could certainly lose this series, and the smart money is betting that the Jazz prevail. But if feels good to believe in this team wholeheartedly right now. That is Clutch City. The feeling that the Rockets will find a way, that somebody will step up to hit the big shot. They might trail for 47 minutes, but when the final buzzer sounds, the Rockets will find a way to have the higher score. TMac might have an off night, but some combination of Landry, Rafer, Scola, Brooks, Jackson, Battier, or Chucky will have a monster game. The feeling that if the Rockets need a last minute stop, someone will get a steal or a block. The certainty that if the Rockets need 2 to tie, someone will get a layup or sink a three. The feeling that the team is charmed. The feeling that the Rocket players have no doubt they will emerge victorious. I am euphoric over the heart this team has shown, and it bodes well for the rest of these playoffs and next year. I hear all this talk about jinxing, but this thread is about the optimism and rock-solid belief that the Rockets will win. That is Clutch City. Maybe they lose, but I am savoring this feeling of elation. There are so many tough times being a fan. You've got to ride the highs when they come along. I believe!
Utah is a tough opponent whose penchant for flopping and constant fouls is well documented. Game 6 will be a tough challenge for our team, which perhaps we have a chance to win. Gmae 5 was exciting, but game 6 will be even more exciting. Go Rockets!
yea i'm so proud of this team. even if we lose this series, we have to appreciate what this team has accomplished. yao is out. tmac, rafer, battier, and landry all have battled injuries and 3 of them still are. we're fighting against the refs. people doubting us. and yet we still are alive. we look at teams with more talent (nugs, mavs...) and yet they fold so easily. being a fan is just not about winning. it's about being proud of your team. sure i love to win a championship, but if someone asks me about this team, i will be just as proud talking about them just as i would talk about the 93-95 teams. heart, passion, perseverance are traits that can never be underestimated.
and did you guys catch TNT last night? barkley and kenny said we are CONTENDERS next yr if we stay healthy lol.
If there is ever a good time to undo Orlando Tmac's 3-1 debacle, it would be now. We are half way there. If we win game 6 there is no way we would lose game 7 with home court and all that momentum.
Agreed, and it would also be a fitting way for us to break the 10 year curse of not getting out of the first round. Coming back against Utah from 3-1 down would be the most satisfying way to do that.
Seriously. Don't forget that Mavs series when we had that emotional win to keep alive in Game 6 at home, only to do you know what in Game 7. I was at the AAC that night, horrible. Great win, but the key was we were taking good shots, great movement, loved how T-mac looked to the lane to pass and those kick outs to Battier early. We weren't hitting early on, but you gotta make their defense move and not stand around ready to pounce on T-mac posting up. Just like football, gotta go deep to keep those safeties honest and not cheating up. Boozer is spying T-mac the whole freakin' game, make him pay, just like last night.
These rockets ARE clutch, but I haven't reached a "return of Clutch City!" level of excitement yet. Right now, I'm pumped because of how we played in Game 5. We didn't let up when we built the lead. That reminded me less of Clutch City and more of The Streak. During The Streak, we were blowing out teams and playing with the utmost confidence in the world. And they brought it NIGHT IN and NIGHT OUT. I'm hoping that the team has regained some of the confidence and spark of winning 22 games in a row. If we could dip into some of THAT mojo for Games 6 & 7...watch out! It will be Clutch City III!
Well Kenny started yelling "Clutch City, baby!" during the highlights last night on TNT... And Chuck said, "Utar betta not let dis git back ti Yousten" So... well... .xnij on
I think someone here said after we were down 0-2, that it would be either Utah in 6 or Houston in 7. It is looking more and more like it. If we beat them in game 6, we will have all the momentum in the world for us coming back to Houston. Believe!
It is starting to have that Clutch City feel to it. The Jazz must be starting to feel some pressure. The Rockets have nothing to lose.
