I am also baffled with Luther Head playoffs performance. He ain't that bad during the games during season but when it come to playoffs, he went missing.
Let's not forget, Luther was our leading scorer off the bench last season with around 10.1 ppg i think. I believe he was one of the keys to our loss to the Jazz in last season's playoffs because we were missing production from our leading bench player. Last season, no Head = no bench points. The dude just chokes during playoff situations. I hope he learns to relax.
I was watching the game last night very intently while Luther was in the game. If you spotlight him while watching the game you notice that he's playing like absolute garbage. I was screaming for them to just yank him out and put in anyone else, but at the same time I noticed something else. While Luther was in the game was when the Rockets were making their bench runs. We were +15 with him in the game, and it was even higher at one point. Maybe it's just dumb luck and we were playing better in spite of him or maybe we just need some deadweight out there to get going. It just caught me off guard when I went to check the computer to confirm what I was noticing. Why pull him out when you're making a run? Just an interesting stat I guess. I still think he folds under pressure and has a game that's not suited for the playoff style.
This is Luther's annual run at sucking in the playoffs, so no one will want him in the off-season. Mission accomplished.
i'd like to trade luther + our #25 draft pick for the suns' #15 draft pick. the suns could use luther. he's very cheap and he has proven to be a great shooter when he has room to shoot. at everything else he's garbage but it doesn't matter because the suns need another shooter and while playing with amare, shaq and nash you'll get your open shots. the rockets could use pick #15 for something they lack desperately: another legit scoring option at the 2 and 3. guys like douglas-roberts, budinger or batum might be available at this range. and if not you could always use the pick to bring in a center project like koufus, hibbert, mcgee or lopez.
Wide open layup on a beautiful feed(I forgot by who) and he blows it. 3 on 1 break and we get dismissed by Kyle Korver. I've had it. That's the final straw. Even on a night everything is going right he still screws up consistently. Get rid of him we can replace shooters. Throughout the game I was pissing myself that the Jazz would cut it to single digits because he's in the game. It was like we're playing 6 on 4 out there. I'll trade him for a link to a p*rn site.
Draft CDR or Courtney Lee plz. This is a bigger need than backup C as our Scolandry + Yao + Deke + Hayes rotation has that locked down, and starting PG is NOT going to be found in the draft, not for this year at least.
If Luther gets any more mins he should just stand there and shoot no more dribbling and trying to break ankles, just stand and shoot. RA get on his ass about that
I really think Luther Head is possibly the worst player in the NBA that is actually in a NBA rotation. This guy is one of the dumbest players I have seen on the court. Simple, fundamental passes escape this guy. Seriously, this dude blew an open layup and bascially blocked his own shot by hitting the rim on another. This guy is just a turnover machine. His outside shooting sucks as well. He is one of the ugliest shots in the NBA IMO. Luckily, this is his final year of his contract. I do NOT want to see him back in a Rockets uni.
I get that everyone hates on Luther (cause there has to be someone), but let's be honest... He is one of the best at running what we are calling this team's version of the Adelman offense. He, Bobby, Carl and Chuck (no matter who the fifth is on the court) can run it more efficiently than any other group we throw on the court. The key is having people knocking down shots with that lineup on the floor. The main problem with Luther is that he needs to get some confidence in the playoffs. Last season was his first playoffs so in my mind I sort of gave him a bit of a pass for having a sub par performance. This season I think there is a two fold problem... one is him remembering his poor performance last year taking away some of his confidence... and second is his uncertainty with playing time. He needs one game. Just one game where he makes some shots and gets the foul calls (he was fouled twice on his drives to the basket but they weren't called) and he will be fine. Defensively he did well. Scrapped, stole the ball, made a nuisance of himself, which is all you can ask of him when he's on the court. One game. We just need him to have one good playoff game and I think a whole new Luther will be on the court (and yall can shut it about how he's horrible) Go Rockets!
If Aaron Brooks was a little bigger and was able to play better D on DWill, Luther Head would not see any burn in this series...
Luther can be a huge factor in getting over the Jazz if he hasconfidence and I think that what Adelman is hoping for every time he sticks him in the game. He does pump fakes every move before doing the actual move and that makes him very exposed because players know what he is going to do next. If just does what he wants right away his speed will help him to get it done.
I think Luther has a couple of things going against him, late in the season and of course the playoffs. First is he has changed his release. He has been working on a quicker release and the result has been a less accurate shot, which in turn has affected his confidence. I personally, don't think you should change the mechanics of your shot mid-season under any circumstances. Second, the only playoff series that Luther has had minutes in is against the Jazz, which happen to be team that owns him. Some teams just negate what certain players bring to the table. The Jazz do that to Luther. I still like Luther and I hope this means we can keep him for a reasonable contract.
