If Avery is fired, my money is on him landing in San Antonio with Popps making him his heir apparent.

And the reasoning behind giving up the coaching job which has resulted in 4 championships rings for him so far, and maybe more to come in future?

Especially since he got on board after firing Bob Hill, if I recall correctly.

Does not seem very likely to me unless you are suggesting that Avery will be jobless for a couple of seasons?

I seriously doubt he is fired, even Mark Cuban can't be dumb enough to think it's his fault the Mavs exited first round this year. I mean their team wasn't that good... well... after they traded for JKidd anyways. Should have kept Harris. :p

If that's true, I think Avery goes to coach Boston next season. They've got to fire Doc after their first round exit to the Hawks. Oh wait...that hasn't happened yet...

Can we PLEASE never link to a bleacherreport.com report as a legitimate source again? Anyone on this BBS could sign up for bleacherreport.com and make what seem to be legitimate news articles. This website is the wikipedia of sports journalism. I'm not saying that Avery isn't fired, but I think bleacherreport.com should be on the same level as Bill the Rocket Guy.

People talk about the free agent pool this offseason. But look at the head coach free agent pool: D'Antoni, JVG, Avery J and possibly George Karl?! WTF?!!

Larry Brown too. Even though the Bobcats already snatched him up.

Mike Fisher of Dallas Basketball has an excellent article on how Avery has become disliked within the organization.

Hey, Juwan, can you please sign with the Jazz in the offseason? I want to see your cursed ass bring down those floppers next.

BTW, moes, I expect a Dirkendouche chapter on the fall of Avery Johnson ASAP. Get to it, chop-chop!

Why do y'all think Avery is such a good coach? He inherited a stacked team, couldn't motivate them to close out in the Finals, changed his gameplan to match up to a #8 seed and still lost, and went out in round 1 this year again. Have you seen his late game adjustments or lack of play-calling? Did you not just see him get outcoached 3 years in a row?
