Last game, I and 3 other guys tried out the skype conference call feature. Worked like a charm; do delay and as clear as can be. It's cool. We could text chat at the ClutchFans IRC channel and audio chat via skype at the same time. Some others (Mango, ayears, Smeggy) said they would have joined but couldn't find their microphone. Anyone want to try this again? If so, keep an eye on this thread, and we'll talk more about it. requirements: download skype, get a microphone, and, ideally, a headset. Speakers will work, but we can hear your TV unless you use a headset, the skype sound is so good.
I might be up for it. I have to get my wireless up and running before then so I can watch the game and chat at the same time.
Damn. I think I left my microphone at my parents' house, or else I'd be all over this. It'd be really fun to ACTUALLY chat with you guys.
speaking of microphones. You can't use a built-in laptop microphone with the built-in laptop speakers. It causes reverb over skype. You're mic can't be too close to the speakers. oh crap! NBA TV only? I'm going to have to upgrade my cable package.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm BW3. I'm going to have to buy some wings and watch the game while talking to real people, at my house.
i dont have a laptop otherwise i would do this, my tv is in the other room. maybe if i can borrow one of my roommate's laptop it maybe worth a shot.
has anyone tried this new thing called oovoo www.oovoo.com i havent tried it, but ive seen teh commercials. up to 6 ppl on video chat at once
so, who is in? here's how: 1. it's best you have headphones to avoid reverb or others hearing tv sound playing through. 2. download skype, make an account, and add "heypartner" to your contact list. 3. meet up in Clutchfans IRC game chat at game time, I'll add everyone to an audio conference call. note: there is one problem with audio chat. Not everyone's TV reception is going to be synched, as you know from the game chat. LAYGO actually set his DVR 4 seconds back to synch with me last game. That was so cool of him.
for sure, without a microphone, you can't talk. that's a must. You don't really need a headset, though. External speakers with a laptops built-in mic can work. For laptops with built-in mics, the main problem is that you can't really use those mics at the same time as the laptop's built-in speakers. Their proximity is too close, so it usually causes reverb. If you have external speakers, park them behind the laptop, and that should prevent the reverb.
