Let Deron do whatever he wants. It's the other players we should shut down. If Mutombo was under the post, Deron wouldn't have dunked at all. It's all fear factors.

Put Deke's elbows to good use.

I don't think he can be stopped with one player. The Rockets know how to guard the paint better than they did last night. But it's tougher when your two bigs are Scola and Landry.

Give him a hard foul when he drives to the basket. When Deke's not out there, make him earn it at the stripe and force him to think twice about driving in. Right now, nobody's deterring him from driving.

if you think deron is better than tmac, open up your eyes.

dude was a ghost for the first 3 quarters basically. then he had 2-3 good plays in the 4th. if you're not gonna do jack for 3 quarters, you better step up for 2-3 plays in the 4th. they don't need him the whole game. we need tmac the whole game.

and it's a shame deron misses 2 fts at a more crucial time and he gets away with it b/c HIS TEAM WON.

but o well, tmac should have done better. i can't defend his horrible 2nd half last night. he's the best player in the series and he should dominate every game. we still have a glimmer of hope if we win game 5.

What will happen if DW fight with a Rocket fan? Will he be suspended for one year?

I don't know who the best player in the series is. But I do know which player I'd want in the closing minutes of a close game -- that's Deron Williams.

hard foul whenever he drives to the rim, like he did to landry. also on screens when he is fitting over them knee the jazzhole right in his tailbone area where he is having a sore spot. constantly, i know he was padding there but sooner or later it will get him more tired.

it showed yesterday at times, you need to put him in more pick and rolls so he gets that contact by landry, scola and especially deke.

You can start by forcing him to go left for once.

WTF are you talking about?

Starters Min FG 3Pt_ FT_ +/- Off Reb Ast TO Stl BS BA PF Pts
    D. Will 45 6-11 0-1 5-8 +5 0 1 9 4 1 0 0 3 17

Stop him? He just made that dunk and the layup on the 4th quarter and now there is an entire THREAD dedicated to "stop deron"??!?!? I don't get it. That was as best defense as Rafer has played. We didn't have Rafer on him the 1st two games... what do you mean, "stop him"??? He's averaging about 19 and in the game where he scored the most, we won.

I like what we did at the end of the game. Run Scola out to trap him in the backcourt so that he has to give up the ball. There offense really stalls when he doesn't have control of it.

It worked really well because he would pass to Okur who was immediately gaurded by landry and gave Scola enough time to recover down to boozer.

We need to do this trap more often kinda like what Dallas tries to CP3.

We can't stop him. I don't think many others in the league can either. He shot 50% from the field. I think we need to foul him hard and make him earn it at the ft line.

I agree with forcing him left. He obviously prefers going right. We should cut off his right at all costs, force him to his left and look for help.

The other thing we need to do with Deron is make him defend and sap his energy so late in the game his legs are gone and his jumper shows it. So, we need to build on the play we started running last night. That is McGrady setting the pick for Rafer, getting the switch off so that DWill is now defending McGrady, then get the ball to McGrady and make DWill have to move and defend against a much taller, longer shooter. McGrady was able to get a couple fouls off DWill and otherwise had uncontested 15 foot jumpers because DWill can't possibly get up to hound him. We simply have to make the guy work defensively. That's why, once again, I'm gonna say it again, Brooks needs to be in there with McGrady so if Dwill doesn't switch, Brooks can come off the screen and get to the hole with DWill losing a step on the screen. Brooks is so much quicker than anybody out there. This would put DWill in a position to have to work his tail off to stop anything defensively. He's either got to deal with Brooks' quickness or McGrady's length.

Not to mention, defensively, Brooks has the quickness to overplay DWill's right and force him left on the defensive end as well. Brooks just has to be coached to defend that way and the defensive scheme has to be adjusted so that DWill is funneled left, then all the help rotates.

    Buy him a cheeseburger.

We gotta get him off whatever diet he started after his first season so he can't blow by everybody. He got past AB easily last night.

i'm sure any good player can play well down the stretch if they don't have to do much throughout the course of a game.

you do know he only attempted 6 shots and scored 8 pts through 3 quarters right? he didn't have to do much. other guys stepped up. that's a sign of a deep, balanced team.

tmac already took 24 shots through 3 quarters. he didn't make much of them, but it showed how much he had to do offensively already in 3 quarters.

exactly, rafer held him to 8 or 9 pts on 2-6 shoong through 3 quarters. yes he had help. but he scored those baskets off of complete single coverage (partly b/c the other guys have stepped up).

we just need to make him into a scorer.

No, he blew by him. He usually out muscles him but then he just got right around him. He's a tough matchup since lost weight. He's like Baron Davis, Lebron, and Dwight now. Neither one of them have any physical deficiencies. They can beat you with speed or strength.
