http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28213 (1/28) “Ideal scenario: Improve the team tremendously, lose every game by 1 point, and land pick #1 in the lotto.” 1/29: Won by 4 1/31: Lost by 4 2/1: Lost by 1 2/4: Won by 7 2/6: Lost by 2 May we continue to play our hearts out. May Steve and Cuttino learn to pass. When we win, may we win big. And when it's close at the end, may there always be a Nailonesque bucket to keep us high in the lottery.
Amen Also, may Kelvin Cato not forget how to play like a center, nor may he forget what motivation he currently has to do so.
Tanking on purpose to get the #1 pick will end up with the #4 pick or worse... The Clips got the 2nd pick last year and they had the 9th worst record. The lotto depends on good fortune and good karma..
Tank for the fact we can trade that pick for a GOOD SF, ie. Odom, Lewis, Rose. We need to trade KT otherwise we'll end up with 3 PFs next year.
This isn't football. Last place doesn't guarantee the #1 overall pick. Someone else can still get it in the lottery.
I was already thinking this too Will, but you can post it in a way w/o getting flamed. Basically, we would need to finish the rest of the season with a better winning clip than any team has done so far this season sans the Kings to even have a shot at the playoffs. Given our frontline consists of talented youth or modestly (generously put) talented veterans, this is not realistic. So yeah, lots of Nailens and NearMobleys while we are experimenting and developing our young players are fine by me. Further, if we do get that upper hand on the score board, let us be sure it is on the Lakers, other Texas teams, Kings, Jazz or Sonics--the latter two mainly for prides sake not because they are good , and not the Gizzards, Nugs, Dirty Birds, unWarriors, Cavs, etc.
Just to be clear: I'm not saying we should play badly. I'm saying we should play our hearts out. It's just that sometimes when you play your heart out, the other team plays the game of its life, or one of its players kills you with a buzzer beater, and you have nothing to be ashamed of. If that happens to us another, oh, 32 times this year, I won't complain.
