I can see the lack of respect for his strategy but most of that is from Sloan. AK47 is a total freak and has the perfect body for a shot blocking 2-3-4 defender.
Landry is so awesome I want to write him a fan letter. That sequence where Landry blocks the shot THEN jumps out of bounds to keep possession of the ball is the play of the playoffs right there. both for individual effort and what it means in terms of impact on a particular series Landry is the guy who gives you amazing PLUS one. A lot of guys can pull spectacular plays as fortune smiles on them but Landry is special in that he goes one step beyond that. For Landry it's not enough to get the BLOCK he must also outhustle 9 other guys and grab possession of the ball. It's not enough to eat a tooth for the team, he MUST THEN GRAB THE REBOUND while most guys would be on the ground doubled over he's beating other guys to the rebound there's not enough adjectives to praise this kid. he is simply amazing and has a will to achieve that is special.
Photoshop request: Here's the caption (borrowed freely from Kentucky Fried Movie) Luis Scola: Tough and Ruthless Carl Landry: Rough and Toothless someone work your photochop magic
just watch the many highlights available all over the net. They all show the play then show a different angle in slomo

That's what I loved about the play. He didn't grab his face, fall backward, or go to the floor- he kept playing and did his job. That's a man.
LOL check out what Yao said to Landry: "Hey, Carl Landry!" he shouted. "It takes 16 games to win a championship. So I think you need to sacrifice 15 more teeth. You might look funny, but you'll have a ring." http://blogs.chron.com/franblinebury/2008/04/a_gift_from_the_tooth_fairy_ro.html
I still can not get over the fact that Landry had the basketball intelligence/athletic ability/ natural instincts to save the ball and NOT pass it to Boozer. There are a few players that could've made that block but I can see them throwing it right to Boozer in a similar situation... right underneath the opponents goal is usually a big NO NO. But Landry knew exactly what he was doing. I <3 LANDRY!
Beast alright and that's what the Rockets is missing on the last 2 games. Carl Landry just simply explode on the 2nd half, him and Scola were chasing that ball whether it is on the floor or in the air they'll come and get em'. Great game for the both rookies. Go Rockets!
Well put. And to think most likely Carl's going to be scoped at the end of the year. He'll get all if not most of his explosion back, but there's s a lot more to Landry than that.An attitude,a will to win, more than just the scorer. He exudes something beyond confidence,a kind of veteran presence which brims over with desire, work ethic, and class.Big upsiide and a Rocket for a long time I'd say.
Does he plan to stay with the Rockets? I imagine he would and I'm quite sure Rockets would want him back, I sure hope so =( That guy is a freaking beast =D Imagine what this rookie's gonna be like in a few years, damn.
Landry was a beast.. I looked at other forums, from spurs to lakers and they might sometimes talk smack about the rockets, but the consensus amongst them all is that Landry was a warrior and they would all love to have him as a player.
I don't think Landry needs his knee scoped. He just needs some rest in the offseason. He looked plenty explosive to me in the last game.
