Did anybody else find it weird that, with the all star game in Philadelphia, the wheel landed on Dr. J's name THREE times? Including the time he spun it? hmmmmm....
Isn't there a fine for players selected to the All-Star game that don't play... I remember something about Karl Malone and this a few years back... They could have fans vote for the participants and then hand out fines to uninjured cowards that don't want to even try to bring the contest back to its 80's glory.
I learned a few things on Saturday... 1.)The league likes to screw the Rockets. 2.)Gerald Wallace has a deep ass voice. "Just make it." 3.)Philly rigged the 3 on 3 competition.
The dunk contest was typified exactly why the NBA is in trouble again -- it's gotten to happy with itself. It's drowning in its own largesse. Elton John singing? Justin Timberlake? Did anyone else think they were watching MTV Rock and Jock during that 3-on-3 crap? The NBA needs to remember that the game is important, as are the skills of the players. Whoever said that there was way too much talking during the dunk competition is right. It shouldn't take that long. And if they *do* want to make it that long, then they should just get more players to participate or have something like a five-minute freestyle session for each player. Richardson's last dunk was definitely nasty. Of course, it took a replay to make that readily apparent.
The dunk contest this year was pathetic. The wheel is awful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
