Thoughts on Pence's base stealing? Is he not taking enough of a lead? He is 1-for-4 this season. He has tons of speed so he must be doing something wrong. The Reds' cather is apparently good at throwing people out but I'd like to see Pence change something. It would be great to have a triple threat on the bases with Bourn, Matsui and Pence.
cardpire, there's lots of decision I might not agree with, but I'm no savant, and I have access to little of the information and none of the thought process of those making these decisions. That's pretty much what I've noticed. He still has his speed, but he doesn't seem to be aggressive enough. He needs a larger lead, especially against a better arm. Ugh. Cassel gives up another run. So far, I'm not a fan. This his first start? I've never heard of him.
He's a sinkerballer like Sampson who has to keep the ball down & get a ton of ground ball outs. Both his sinker & change have been up so far today. Aside from the small lead & good throwing catcher, Pence has also never seen this pitcher & didn't look like he got a good jump, dunno why he chose to go there.
