Okay... let me get this correct.. A news columnist heard this discussion last off season for about an hour. He took notes of the conversation.. Then decided to keep the info secret for what 6-7 months..

Sounds like he juiced the story :D :D :D :D

Martell Webster's name was also mentioned along with Jack and Outlaw.

Portland paid the Suns $3M for the draft rights to Fernandez. If such a trade is on the table that'd also be part of it.

Battier + $3 million cash for Outlaw + draft rights to Fernandez + Wafer

Wafer's contract expires this season. I think NBA contracts end on June 30th? So Wafer is like a TE of sorts that makes the deal work.

This topic was discussed thoroughly I think it was Jack + Outlaw for Battier and if Alston was a part of the deal then it would have made sense back then and it makes sense now considering nobody thought that Rafer would be back except for Rafer.

Really? Blake ranked #48 in PER of PGs and Alston at #33.

I am not against trading Battier in principal, but I really don't think this specific scenario would do much for us, other than getting younger/more athletic. To me, the only scenario under which you trade Battier is if you can get a legit 'third option'/offensive juggernaut alas Miller or Maggette or Artest. Otherwise, you're sort of moving horizontally and it won't make much difference overall. I envision Battier being the 'key' player to any major move the Rox make to get a legit third option on this team, he would probably be packaged with someone else to make it happen. So I am not crazy about the idea of losing our -- possibly -- third most valuable player on the team for Outlaw.

DM should make it happened. A role player who can defense and hit some 3s. Trading this type of player would not be too dangerous.

Battier is not the problem imo. He can hit the 3, and is one of the top 3 defenders in the league. I thought he should have been Defensive player of the year.

    1. A S&T player can't be packaged in a trade.
    2. If Calderon gets more than $3 million he'll be a BYC player.
    3. Alston is to Mitchell what Sprewell is to Carlesimo

Little known fact. The young Blazers without Greg Oden took the season series from the (play every game with playoff intensity) Jazz this year 3-1.

Webster - 16.3 ppg on 52.3% and 52.6% from the arc and 89.5% from the line with 4.8 boards and 2.3 assists...oh...in 26 mpg.

Outlaw - 14.3 ppg on 54.1% and 40.0% from the arc though with a Hayes-like 57.7% from the line. 5 boards, 1.5 apg, 0.8 steals and 1.0 block. In 25 mpg.

It needn't have to be a package. Just like, Battier for Calderon, and Alston for Kapono.

Calderon being BYC still stops it.

We cannot trade Battier to Blazers, who will be our big opponent in future years. If we need to trade Battier, we have to trade him to the EC.

Webster is the one on the outer in Blazerland

Outlaw is their first option SF. They have a starting lineup of:

    PG: Jack/Roderiguiz/Ferdanaz
    SG: Roy/Jack/James Jones
    SF: Outlaw/Webster/James Jones
    PF: Aldridge/Frye/Outlaw
    C: Oden/Przbilla/Frye

Thats how they look at the moment. Webster is the one on the outer because James Jones for some reason gives them some crazy winning statistic when he plays. Bear in mind his a free agent this season.

It seems you don't like the idea that Calderon becomes a rocket. Why?

You just said early today, Calderon is not good enough to be a starter.

Won't happen, Raptors will match whatever is offered. Would be nice though.

Webster started 70 games. Outlaw started in 6. Outlaw has been playing backup PF.
