If only there was an option to rate negative stars in the thread rating. Ultimately, this will be the next award given out after AK47's acting award... Worst trade award.
There are two reasons the spurs would not do this trade and probaly a hundred reasons why the rockets would not do this trade. The spurs would not do it because A) why would you mess up the chemistry on a proven formula that leads to nba championships?? B) T-mac makes mad money and peter holt is a money grubbin cheap ass. The rockets on the other hand would be screwed. Is manu going to drive to the basket every play??? no abosolutely not, if you watch the spurs play manu actually is not involved in the offense for long stretches. he sits around the 3 pt line passing the ball for a while, might take an open 3 here or there, then when pop calls on him he goes into attack mode for about 5 to 8 mins of the game, then they go back to tony and tim. I would consider the trade if we knew we could also get a legit playmaking pg that can score efficiently and average over 7-8 assists per game.
It's interesting how these folks never really answer questions straight up because they have no answer. BTW, my questions were directed to DD. Did he not see them or just didn't have the answers?
yes it is a shame that the majority are just not up to speed, but we minority will keep trying to edumacate them. DD
this is not math question where there's only one perfect answer. next time email your private questions to DD@NBA.com
Yes I know. That was when Robinson was on the team. I believe Parker and Ginobili were picked very late in the first round or somewhere in the second round. I say Spurs were just lucky because if they had seen these guys' potential, why didn't they do anything to pick them up earlier? Ginobili was the leader of that Argentine team that beat the US team. McGrady is good, but I think partly why he was seen as the franchise player was because he was exciting to watch. Exciting to watch does not equate to ability to win. Look at Mcgrady and Carter. What happened? Awesome dunks. That's it. It's like how you can have movies in theaters with alot of advertisements turn out to be worse than movies from companies you've never heard of.
People who think Manu is better than T-Mac is ridiculous. T-Mac is the better scorer, ballhandler, playmaker, rebounder and floor leader. It is very easy to praise Manu so hard because he has 3 rings and puts up a nice stat line off the bench, but it is much different when you are facing constant double teams 30ft out from the rim and expected to lead Bobby Jackson, Deke, Battier and Scola past a very difficult Jazz team. It is cute and all that Manu plays balls out and wildl attacks the rim, but he does not have the capacity to do the things T-Mac does on a nightly basis.
Manu does not/can not manage a team on the floor. But man, Manu as the third scorer we need....talk about title contender.
As was I...T-Mac is the better player, and it is not extremely close like many of you guys believe. Manu cannot do the things T-Mac does in terms of leading this team. From creating his own shot each time down the floor to constantly facing double teams 30ft out to scoring or assiting on all but 11FGM....for the past 2 years, no one but LeBron has had to do as much offensively for his team as T-Mac.
DD is absolutely right. Manu is the best. Forget about Duncun, Parker, Bowen, Finley, Horry, Manu is out there by himself. I'm sure he can lead the Rockets to the promise land. You know what, he can even do it without Yao and Rafer.
1) Sure, why not? 2) There were a couple of games in there where T-Mac stunk it up, from what I recall. In the win against the Lakers he went 4 for 16 for 11 points. That's hardly "carrying" the team.
Overall though T-Mac carries the load. There is no denying that. Maybe if the rest of the rockets were playing as good as they were against the Lakers we wouldn't be down 0-2.
I think the Rockets play their best ball when they play as a team and can get a balanced attack rolling. Anytime they get less than five guys in double figures they've got problems. For whatever reason they've moved away from that at the end of the season and they've looked vulnerable as a result.
oh please, imagine san antonio without tim duncun or tony parker. Manu wouldn't be half as effective and the Spurs wouldn't make the playoffs. T-mac carried this team to 54 wins.
