Not counting naps, how much sleep are you exactly getting these days? I use to average around 8 hours, but now I'm finding myself getting only about 6. At first, my body was pretty much in shock to it, but now it has gotten used to it for the most part. Considering that some of the people here are posting past 3 in the morning, I am really curious to see what people are averaging around here. This thread reminds me....time to go to bed!
I've actually done really well this semester and I average about 8 hours per night and thus, I usually don't need naps. The last couple of weeks have been different though. Since I didn't go to bed the night before Lynus left, I've been playing catch up until the last couple of days. I'm just about in my groove again! It's sad though, the summer after my senior year, Lynus and I would be out to like 4am on a pretty regular basis and I would have to get up at 8am for work. But somehow, I did it and I usually only took a 30-60 minute nap when I got home. There's no way I could pull that off now. My body's gotten so used to being rested! It makes me feel old.
I usually only get around 6 hours of sleep per night/day but I can function on as little as 3 hours of sleep.
I usually can, but only for that day. Like if I get 3 hours of sleep on Monday night, I'm good for Tuesday. But when I get a full night's sleep Tuesday night, Wednesday I'm pretty cranky, if not worthless. It takes a day for it to catch up with me. Does that happen to anyone else, or am I just weird (in that aspect only-this is not an open invitation.
well i've got a presentation in my 8 am class tomorrow and i don't see me going to sleep before 3 so that's about 4.5 before i actually wake up. That's pretty much par for the course on MWF. On TTH when i wake up at 10:30 I usually rack up around 6.5 and then about 8 on friday and saturday night. so that's like 42 hours and a 6 hour average. I haven't been getting even near the naps I got last semester. My naps were almost longer than my sleep last semester. With naps I probably average like 6.5 hours. Like others, I can function on very little sleep, sometimes like 2 hours, if I have to, but I usually need a solid 6 or 7 the next day.
My sleeping patters are so ridiculously screwed up. Once upon a time, a couple of years ago, I pulled an all nighter. I've never really been the same sense. Evidently, you can get back to your normal sleeping pattern the very next day, and be ok. I didn't. I slept through the next day.... and ever since then, I don't think I've had more than 2 weeks were my sleeping pattersn were really regular. Ugh.
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27789&highlight=Naps I take it that you missed this thread of mine, Mango.
I know what you mean...I'm the same way. I can go from having less than 2 hours of sleep a few days in a row to sleeping 15 hours in a row. Also, during one week, I go from sleeping during the day to during the night...really messed up - fortunately, my job allows me to come in pretty much whenever I want...but sometimes it is really annoying!
4 hours . . . sometimes six I try to keep it to four though, because I've found that I sleep in 4 hour cycles. I can sleep 4 hours or 8 hours and I'm great. If I sleep 5 or 7 hours, I wake up feeling totally out of sorts. 6 hours I can usually handle okay, but 4 is ideal. In college, I went through one summer where I was literally a zombie. For a whole month, I would only sleep around 20 minutes every night, then I'd take about seven 5 minute naps throughout the day. I got to this point where I could just fall asleep anywhere, and then wake up in 5 minutes, then I'd be totally refreshed, like I had been asleep for a few hours. It was kindof cool.
