We're down 0-2, more importantly after losing two games at home and playing a monster of a team at home. Yes, the reality is that it looks bleak. But don't say this series is done or over. That's just not right. These guys didn't give up when Yao went down or when everyone said they couldn't win 50 games. They've really tried hard and worked hard. And I think we owe it to them as fans to not write them off even if we're upset and sad. Yeah, we probably aren't going to win this series...but please, given the history of this ball club and the effort they put out last night, it's just wrong to call them dead or that it's over, or we'll get swept. It makes us look like fair-weathered fans and really crappy ones at that. Show your class. At the very least, bite your tongue and wait a few more days.
Clutch City isn't about the players on the team. It's about the city. It only dies when people let go of it. It's like the ShowTime Lakers. Are they gone? yes. But even today there's a part of it that lives on and you can see it in the way they play. Clutch City isn't dead.
Try selling out all your home games then call yourselves ClutchCity. Jeez If I lived in Houston I would be a season ticket holder and I would go to every freaking homegame. Attendance has been pathetic the past couple of years considering how good the Rockets have been. Do the Rockets have to win 22 games in a row every season to get as many people as the Knicks do every home game? The Knicks people!? SO Yes It actually is all about the players on the team.If it wasn't about the management, and it was all about the city and how much they want to be winners, the Knicks would be legit every year... I love this team as much as the next, true Rockets fan. And a lot of us have seen losing in almost every sort of way from this franchise. The one thing that bugs me though about the last 2 games is that there seems to be no fire, no hunger. It's not the first time and occasionally has happened in the playoffs BUT still.....we are less than a year removed from a bitter loss in the playoffs to these same jazzholes and well, I was expecting them to come out pissed and really pissed for that matter. That's all I want from these guys win or lose. I wants some passion. I want someone to get pissed. I want them attacking. I want them to hit hard when the jazzholes come in the paint, screw this ole defense. I know they care. I do too. But damn it, show me. please. win or lose.
Despite Mark Cuban being an idiot for over valuing Dirk so much, I still wish Les was as passionate about the game as Mark was. He blows so much money on that team lol.
There's nothing classless about stating the obvious. As much as it pains me to say this the Jazz are a better team. They are more disciplined, more talented, and bigger than the Rockets WITHOUT YAO MING. Add Yao to the team and it's a different story.
What are you talking about? The Rockets played with so much passion and heart yesterday, to keep trying to come back and so physical. The matched the intensity. Ah man.
This is not a team and not a season that will soon be forgotten even if we fall by the wayside here. Thanks Rockets for a great ride. Hope still springs eternal.
It is not classless or being a fair weather fan when you are being realistic. The series is over, no matter what you want to make yourself believe.
What fun is it to follow a team and then give up before the buzzer at the end of our 4th loss? Regardless of if its logical, you should always expect your team to pull off the unlikely or impossible. Otherwise you aren't a fan, you're a bandwagon rider. Ask Boston fans if they thought they were going to pull out a series with the Yankees when they were down three games to none. Ask New York fans if anyone other than they or the guys in the locker room thought that they could beat the 18-0 Patriots. Impossible is nothing. If you really like the team and the players, you always hold out for the dream.
Being objective does NOT make you a fair weather fan. I think it makes you a better fan. You can see faults that others would not see. The bottom line is that the Rockets do not have the size or talent to win 4 out of 7 games against Utah, let alone 4 out of 5 now. That is just a fact. If I am wrong, I will be the happiest person on this board, but I have seen nothing in the first 2 games that lets me believe the Rockets have a chance to pull this series out.
I haven't given up. This team has some hard working, mentally tough guys and the pressure is off them. Everyone expects them to get swept so maybe they will go out there and just play. One game at a time.
You are missing the point entirely. Yes, we know that it's improbable that we will win the series. Yes, we all know that logically this team doesn't have a chance. Saying that "it's over for a fact" is NOT being a fan. Saying "it's over for a fact" is using your head instead of your heart. Fan is short for Fanatic. How many fanatics do you know that think logically? The fact that you are arguing about this must mean you feel guilty about giving up already. Do I see our faults? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean I can't still enjoy the fight and hope that we pull off the miracle. The fact that people here that call themselves fans are saying "Why bother hoping, we can't win!" isn't what a true fan should be saying.
I don't think you are understanding what I am saying. Of course I am hoping that we pull it out. I will still be watching rooting my heart out. But I also have to understand that the likelihood of the Rockets pulling out this series is next to zero. It is something I have come to grips with. I don't believe that makes me a lesser fan for understanding that. That also doesn't mean I won't be watching and cheering either.
