The "2008 Torch Circus" is making its' stop in Japan next Saturday...which will be intresting to say the least. Already, some sparks are flying...

    Japan temple rejects torch relay
The aforementioned temple has been vandalised
    Japan snubs Chinese guards

I don't want to be too dramatic, but I could seriously see this as either being a VERY good victory for world unity...or a spark to a global controversy. China is a tinderbox right now and Japan could very well set the match aflame.

Japan won't even need matches since China is giving them a big torch -- with any luck Tibetan protesters will save us from WWIII by putting that thing out once and for all.

The Japanese are discreet people. So the Tibetans protesters won't have much support (esp, the violent kind of support) from the local. The Japanese authority will also be on Chinese side because now japan exports a lot to China. I think we will see minor protests but things will go smoothly.

Similar situation will apply to Hong Kong.

Canberra is now the only stop that can cause major disruption.
