The first 10 minutes of the game set the tone. Utah got away with murder. We are simply not strong enough to play that kind of game. If the refs won't control the Jazz bruisers (in our own building) then bring in our scrubs and give them back twice the filth and elbows they are dishing out. Watch your tapes closely, and you will see Boozer throw an elbow on every pick.

Let Harris and Woods foul out in the first half dishing it out, HARD. If that doesn't work, let Deke and Hayes loose. Send a message to the league: Take care of the crap or we will take care of it ourselves. I would rather we get swept than to take that kind of bullying without fighting back. The Jazz are the Detroit bad-boys without the rep. I wonder why the media refers to them as old-school or hustlers instead of thugs?

I agree to a certain extent.

We're too short staffed to get into early foul trouble or any flagrants that take anyone out with a suspension. However, we need to use our fouls wisely. If you're gonna foul, make sure it hurts. Stop just short of a flagrant. Put DW on his tailbone if he take it to the rack. But above all else, do not back down or play scared.

    Go Rockets!

The problem is that we have a soft team, we when get slapped on the face (TMAC) we go down on the floor and do not respond to give it back on their face. Only Scola was playing their style on Saturday.

the jazz bait you into playing their style just like the suns used to. if you get into a thugball war with the jazz they will win. why? because they always play that way. they know how to play thugball and still execute and win. the rockets don't.

    I totally agree with you...

Back in the day, the mentality was you either handle this situation or we will.

I understand your point, but unfortunately if the refs allow that style then that is the style that will be played. You can't run on every possesion and we are not so much more athletically gifted than the Jazz that we can go showtime on them.

Having them play their brutish game without any fear of retaliation is humiliating and self defeating. We can take the high road and lose in 4 or 5 or we can take a stand both in the game and in the media and probably still lose in 4 or 5, but set the stage for the future that we just aren't going to take this sh** anymore. I don't think the NBA really wants to step back to the brute force, hold and push style of the nineties.

this is why i kept saying that the rockets absolutely, positively didn't want to play the jazz.

i agree that it would be fun to watch the rockets beat up the jazz, but i think it would almost certainly concede the series if they did so.

we should bring charles oakley and anthony mason out of retirement for the rest of this series. haha.

Is Mike Tyson out of jail? He could take out an ear lobe or 2.

We need to get Rafer back. He's the one man on this team that won't stand for any s***. Get a hard foul, give one right back. Give someone a hard shove when they commit a foul you don't like. Even though you'll get a tech, the message has been sent. If necessary pull a David West.

I think Deke or Hayes would send a really loud message if Adelmann said to hell with it and risk ejection. Start Hayes instead of Deke and everytime Boozer touches the ball foul him really hard. Maybe we could get lucky enough for Boozer to loose it and throw a punch.

I was hoping the whole game that one of Mutumbo's or Scola's elbows would land on one of their stupid faces.

We need to send tape of Boozer setting those moving "elbow picks" to the League office like Mark Cuban did to us with Yao. Look how much it changed that series, from 2-0 to 2-3 after the league review.

I absolutely agree. I was saying this at Game 1 and it was frustrating the hell out of me. Their WHOLE GAME is desensitizing the refs in the first ten minutes so they don't call s$!# the rest of the game. We were getting HAMMERED, and that's not even counting the sneaky elbows, flops, trips, and other dirty tactics Sloan devises. Then on the other end of the court we were getting called for weak fouls, especially Scola. Something needs to be done. I don't care if we have to stoop to their level. Fight fire with fire! If Boozer throws and elbow, body him up HARD at the other end. Answer their cheap tricks. If we could do this, try it out on our home floor, and be successful and win, it might set a new tone for the rest of the series.
