Chris Bosh has lashed out at a "classless" American broadcaster he feels crossed the line in a personal attack. Stephen A. Smith, a prominent ESPN analyst known for his loud delivery and over-the-top commentary, compared Bosh to former NBAer Manute Bol on Friday, chastising the Raptor all-star for playing soft and being unable to lead his team to any significant level of success.
http://www.sportsnet.ca/thewire/basketball/2008/04/20/bosh_takes_a_shot_at/ link. Does anyone in here think he's that "soft"?....or is it the team that's soft?....okay don’t answer the second question, we all know the team is soft, though I don’t think it’s CB4’s fault.
I don't think its entirely his fault but he is definitely part of the problem. I just don't think he has the physical built to take punishment down low on a nightly basis, and especially not in playoffs. Garnett, with a similar built, is a much better player than Bosh, and even he has had difficulties. I also think that Raptors are asking too much from him. Bosh is a decent second option and a great 3rd option but you are asking for trouble if you are looking at him as your first option. Of course if he has a great playoffs then everyone's perception about him, including mine will change.
Here is the full article http://www.thestar.com/Sports/NBA/article/416349 ORLANDO, FLA.–Chris Bosh has lashed out at a "classless" American broadcaster he feels crossed the line in a personal attack. Stephen A. Smith, a prominent ESPN analyst known for his loud delivery and over-the-top commentary, compared Bosh to former NBAer Manute Bol on Friday, chastising the Raptor all-star for playing soft and being unable to lead his team to any significant level of success. The comments about the team and the game aren't what irked Bosh, it was dragging in the name of Bol, a 7-foot-6 beanpole, who was more an oddity than a factor in his career. "If you have respect for someone, you expect that same respect back," Bosh said yesterday. "If you're a classless person like that, I mean, I guess that shows how you are, what kind of person you really are. "If you criticize basketball, criticize the game, criticize the team but don't do anything personal." But Bosh said he doesn't need to use Smith's comments to get him more motivated for the series against the Orlando Magic. "I don't have to prove anything to that guy, plain and simple," said Bosh. "If that's what he wants to do, that's what he's going to do. If that's what makes him happy, to try to bring other people down, good for him. "If LeBron (James) wasn't doing so well, he'd probably dog him, too. If Dwight (Howard) wasn't averaging 20 and 10, he'd talk bad about him." It's tough to find fault with Bosh's games against Orlando, since he's averaged 33 points a game in the two he played against the Magic this season. "There will be a lot of different guys probably take a run at Bosh, he's not an easy guy to guard," Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy said yesterday. "You have to give them as many different looks as you can. He'll see a lot of different things over the course of a series." Bosh's biggest task is going to be on defence. For at least some of each game, he's going to be matched up against 6-foot-10 Orlando forward Rashard Lewis, a three-point shooting threat who'll make Bosh move away from his defensive comfort zone.
The Raptors' softness problem isn't all Bosh's fault, but he contributes because there isn't much "power" in his PF game. He is skilled and is a great player to have on the team, but his lack of physicality means it will have to be made up for at another position. I guess the primary blame is on management for not figuring that out and putting physical, rough players around Bosh.
I should also mention your coach is part of the problem. I know the Magic are hot but a 20 point deficit after the first quarter is inexcusable.
Man, they were not missing, it didn't matter who was shooting...... I don't think you have to be the strongest guy to really be an effective PF, we have Hayes/Scola/Landry, all not so typical POWER PF's, but they make it happen. It depends on what the team makeup is...... so I guess the bolded part of your post is right on. Zboy....Bosh's game is not fully developed, YET, though in time he will one of the better PF's in the game...I think its quite obvious.
A-smith says what he feels.........I wish more people were like him and Charles..........Dont be scared
Honestly, guys like Stephen A. Smith and Charles Barkely are cheap rating; which translate into big money for the stations. Society is going that way. Unfortuantley, idiots like that entartain IDIOTS. They are very true to their culture. They are loud. And the yell out their feelings at all times; Right or Wrong, they don't care. And they back track all of the time. Where is the respect there? There is no human dignity in how they conduct their work. They pick on people because they have the floor.
I actually think that's an insult on Manute Bol. Manute Bol had a better bang for the buck than Bosh.
I haven't seen Bosh play that much, other than the times that he's torched us when we've play him. That being said, WTH was toronto thinking when they drafted that charmin-tough Italian kid And Zacatecas is right......Barkley and Smith are loudmouth imbeciles in front of the camera solely for the purpose of keeping the idiot casual fan masses amused and entertained - all at the cost of legit journalism/reporting and as a disgrace to the actual game of course.
When I look at Dwight Howard's stat line 25 pts/22 rbs/5 blks, I have respect. When I look at Chris Bosh's stat line 21 pts/6 rbs/0 blks, all I can tell bosh is just shut up and take his sissy ass home.
Bosh seems like a good kid who works hard but he just isn't a franchise type player. He is a sometimes All Star on a team that isn't very good. He would be a fantastic second banana on a team with a real superstar but if he is Toronto's best player then they are not going to ever contend for a Championship. and I'm glad he called out Stephen A.
When people compare yao to rik smith and called yao "soft", this board exploded like hell. Chris Bosh i can feel your pain!
