I said this before the Suns game (about Stoudemire) and in a sense, it applies to the Jazz as well. Let Boozer get his, it's the other players that we have to neutralize. Boozer is not going to beat us on his own, he's never "killed" us. The momentum tends to switch when guys like Korver, Okur, and Kirlinko hit their stupid shots. If we can slow down those guys, and do an alright job on Boozer, we'll be fine. I still believe in this team. GO ROCKETS!
Agree 100% This is what I said a few days ago in the Utah II thread: 04-17-2008, 08:20 AM #121 Reply With Quote Well, I hate to rain on the parade, but a lot of posters here are being unrealistic about winning the first round. Yao is out: thank God for Scola but his free throw shooting is less than desirable; Landry is injured and even when he gets back his leaping ability is severely impaired; Hayes (no offense) and Luther (no defense) are still too short; Shane Battier is hurt; T-Mc can't shoot because of his shoulder injury; Rafer is out and will be slowed by his groin injury when he does return; Bobby Jackson's legs are suspect; and Deke, well, thank God he is an ageless wonder. Brooks is too green, and no one except T-Mc will pass to "Threefer" Novak on a consistent basis so his offense stays on the shelf. No, I am not optimistic, but that does not deter me from passionately rooting for the Rockets. I wish people would lay off T-Mac. I've been a critic in the past on some of his player attributes, but he is limited by his shoulder injury, so much so that Korver can guard him one on one. I don't question his desire at all.
Yeah which is really bad. Lord knows we shouldn't be THAT optimistic, nope.. we're just fans, we shouldn't have any hope. What happened on Saturday night was a tragedy, but losing all hope when there is at least 3 more games to play is an even bigger tragedy (unless you're a Grizzlies fan from previous years). I expected more from a '99 member. I don't know if he's a Bandwagoner, but maybe just a really depressing fan. I think Brooksball's thread from earlier this season has served its purpose. Now it's time for him to start a "2nd Round? Now Way!" then so on and so forth. Git 'er done Brooksball
I thought the rockets played hard but were just completely overmatched. The Jazz played about as good as they can and the rockets just weren't good enough. I guess they could have made all those missed layups and that may have been 1st round jitters so who knows in gamd 2. If we lose game 2 though, yea, its going to get UGLY.
My bad, you're right. I did some digging and finally saw it. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=146935 Man you need to put some heart into that thread. That was such a half ass post. It's not too late to fix the thread. Speaking of which... I just realized. This thread could be a jinx. The OP could be a genius. I can't believe none of us saw this!
Thats only because you didn't do it right. If you did it like how you did your first one, then we would have blown out the Jazz.
Our problem I think is that we cant shoot worth ****. We had so many open looks and we didnt make them. Also, whenever we drive to the rim, people cant seem to finish. If we learn to do both, and hustle in the 2nd quarter in game one in the rest of the series, I think Rockets have a legit chance. But im going to stick to my old argument/theory and think and say that playing the Lakers would have better suited the Rockets (thus meaning we should have tanked to 7th place )
I don't believe in jinxes at all. I didn't put any thought into the thread for that reason. It was meant solely to be a joke.
I agree that these threads reflect on fans that are the epitome of bandwagon fans. Being a bandwagoner doesn't only mean someone that is suddenly a fan when a team does well, but also those fans that are all doom and gloom when the team loses a game. Around here, its instantly "WE ARE THE WORST TEAM EVER" and "WE ARE GOING TO GET SWEPT." Jesus H. You are fans - your only job is to sit on the couch, drink beer, and cheer on your team. There really is no reason to ever give up, you aren't on the court competing.
No need to rush, there's plenty of time left. Remember that all people talked was that Nuggets were going to eliminate Spurs last year after winning game 1? Well that didn't happen, heck Utah lost two first games last year and won in best seven.
No comment because everybody has their own opinion. With me this series is not on any Rockets players it is on us as a fan. Do we show out enthusiasm for our team? Do we have heart? Do we show enough support or just a season fan? Do we spend time to educate ourselves about the team?
Is it really that hard for pessimists like you to just shut your mouth and quit trying to be the "voice of reason" before the season is over? I don't understand how you can call yourself a Rockets fan and proceed to insult your team and not provide them with the support they need. I can't stand fair weather followers like you so please keep your negativity to yourself and get off the forums until we make our OFFICIAL exit from the playoffs. Tell me, does creating your very own thread make you feel important? Are you hoping they actually lose this series so you can say "I told you so" to all the believers? I'm sick of everyone making their own self fulfilling prophecies so please SHUT UP while I enjoy the rest of the playoffs... However long that may actually be.
After a one loss at home, it sure does look bad but too soon to say the team will get swept. The first game you could tell the team as a whole was just real nervous. I think the next game will tell us alot about this team's chances.
