There is no need to panic, it is fairly simple, all the team has to do to win is to play harder and hungrier and make shots. Utah is beatable, with the team we have, but the team has to make shots and play with more energy and fire. I think we can win game 2 and steal one in Utah but it is going to take maximum effort each game. Also, I believe we need to get more Landry and Scola and less Hayes and Deke....got to have offense on the floor, can't make it too easy on Utah's D. DD
i believe Adelman would like to play landy scola as well. He did this throughout the 22 streak. The first half clearly showed we could not grab a board with both of them in there. Scola was better in the second half. He will need to rebound that well in order to see less hayes and deke. We cant make it easy for their defense, but we also cant make it that easy for their offense to where they are getting offensive rebounds 3 - 4 possesions in a row.
Box out Boozer.........Man he got some easy layups last night......And we have no idea how we are going to score when we get the ball.........And when mcgrady drives to the goal and passes it to Bobby Jackson has to stop.......Either lay it up......Dunk it........Or get fouled.......Then Hit the free throws......man we kept spliting them........And hard to say it...But we need Rafer!
who are you, jeff van gundy ??? why is it so hard for you all to accept that utah is just BETTER than us ?? we do not have enough talent to beat this team. on top of that, they are just a bad matchup for us, even with yao they are a bad matchup. so its not about how hard we play, i feel we played very hard last night. making shots, well that comes down to talent, which we are short on. we are not going to win because we are not the better team... thats it, and thats all.
Problem - If we play Deke or Hayes, we can't score enough (especially Hayes); if we don't play Deke or Hayes, we can't stop them from scoring and even if we do play them, we usually won't stop them from scoring anyways.
the most talent does not win. there are games left to be played. rockets will play them out and can win, whats wrong in discussing how we may be able to do that?
Last year one of the reasons we lost, was because we didn't make adjustment during the series. I think the Coach is finding a way to help the team find spots to shoot better and give some trouble to Utah. They are better than us, but not always the better team wins. And like I said in another thread, in the last two playoff we were 2-0 and we lost...so I believe!!!
we can be competitive, but we cannot win this series without some MAJOR choking from the jazz, and/or a couple injuries to some of their key players.
of course there is no need to panic but we gotta win Game 2. The recipe for the win is to MAKE SHOTS. That's all especially with us having good positions. MAKE SHOTS
I was going to start a thread about this. Our biggest problem? We can't score. We need our best scorers to be out there so Landry absolutely HAS to see more time. I think we should experiment with playing Landry at the three. Think about it: Utah doesn't have a dominant wing player (AK's big night was a product of us sagging off/not respecting him). Giving Landry minutes at the three is feasible since normally neither Brewer or AK are going kill you when facing their starters and Landry is perfectly capable of matching Harpring's physicality off of the bench. Landry and Scola both have the mid-range game to play the PnR with T-Mac. We could try that approach, let Deke clean up the mess down low and have Rafer, Brooks, B Jax or whoever wait for kick outs. Any thoughts?
I just watched it again...so many missed layups....I am really not concerned all that much. The team was out of sorts, seemed nervous and was not competing hard in the first quarter, especially for rebounds. Utah is not all that great, they have flaws too, Kirlenko is not going to play like that every game, Bobby Jax is not going to keep missing wide open 3 pters...and Scola will not blow so many layups. Hayes and Deke though, are not a threat on offense, and since we are smaller and quicker than then, we need to get out and run.....make it a 94 foot game.... Oh, and BrooksBall, I am a wine guzzling internet guy. Get it right...Mr. "No way we make the playoffs" DD PS. Utah is no threat in the West......they are very beatable....
Rockets should watch Game 4 of the 1984 Finals for inspiration. They played like "a bunch of women" in Game 1.
Simple... for a wine-guzzling fan on the internet to say. BTW, do you actually take the time to post your initials after every post or is that some kind of signature? Or, is it just a waste of white space considering your username is two inches to the left of every one of your posts.
Agreed! I think the rockets played too conservative yesterday! They were thinking too much to be relax! We still have a good chance to win this series.
