February 27, 2000. A day that will live in infamy. The day the Houston Rockets sucked so bad that NBC, despite the presence of its beloved Lakers, cut away during the 3rd quarter to show a game in Minnesota.
Damnit, I thought they listened to us cc.net people. Feb 27, 2000-"The Heidi 2 Game " ------------------ The Mall Kid is Back! Visit Draft Source, the number #1 source for Houston Rockets draft info.
you were lucky. outside of the houston market, the cut away 2 minutes into the second. well, at least i'm getting other stuff done now that francis sucks too. [This message has been edited by Achebe (edited February 27, 2000).]
thanks for that link rf34... I'm stoked... the grizzlies are much better than we are and now the warriors have hughes... 4 or 5 pick?
Here in the Dallas area, we were forced to watch that crap until the beginning of the third quarter. Thank God they switched to a basketball game. I have to agree with Will, I want the lottery, but a loss is only one loss... no sense in trying to get 10 losses in one game guys. And someone tell Francis, it's ok to score. P.S. -- I find out today that I may be able to finally get digital cable in this area and this is what I have to look forward to? ------------------ <this space for rent> [This message has been edited by Dr of Dunk (edited February 27, 2000).]
DoD -- exactly. The ideal tanker's game is boldly played, placing enterprise and long-term development over short-term victory. It should be based on experimention (with various offensive sets and defensive assignments and rotations) but EXECUTED CLEANLY AND AGGRESSIVELY. There is NO value in losing a game this way. If we're not learning, if we're not refining, if we're not improving, if we're not building character, we're wasting a season -- getting older without getting better. And nobody wants that.
Dreamshake, my friend, No, no, no. The Clips are different. With them the lottery and losing are tradition. In no way do I wish the Rockets to become another Clippers-type organization; one that prepares for the lottery in the pre-season. On the contrary, the Rockets should make the lottery, use their $4.5 million exemption in the off-season wisely, allow their young players to grow and learn this season, and then be an explosive powerhouse of a team of near-dynastic proportions for the next 5-10 years at least (ok, maybe I exaggerate). If we are to lose (and boy I hope we're going to do just that), let's do it with pride! No sense in completely self-destructing as we did today. That's downright humiliating. ------------------ <this space for rent>
Might no be as far-fetched as you think DoD (the dynasty point you brought up). If we could move Cato+Walt this offseason, and wisely spend the $4.5mill exception, we might just have enough for Duncan. Throw in a #6 lottery pick small forward (perhaps Morris Peterson), add that to a strong nucleus of KT, Francis, Anderson, Rogers, Whatever we get in return for Drew in a trade, Mobley (or return in trade), and #15-#17 pick in the draft and things start looking good. That right there is a team good enough to win the championship for the next 10 years in a row. [This message has been edited by thacabbage (edited February 27, 2000).]
Dr. I live too far away. Had to get DSS, NW of Denton. Also I would like to see them unload Robert Pack, I mean TMass.. Moochie looked good today. He remindes me of Darrel Armstrong, without being able to dunk.
Hey Steve, I can't get DSS because of the way my apartment faces. I'll be inquiring about digital cable tomorrow. TMass? Who is that? Is that a player on our team? ------------------ <this space for rent>
Duncan? That's got to be an impossibility. No way he plays for the I10 rival, besides, the city of San Antonio will proudly go bankrupt resigning the guy.
Having Pig Miller, Matt Bullard, Bryce Drew, and Mocchie Norris starting the second quarter is definitley tanking, sucking, and an embarrassment. [This message has been edited by ROCKETBOOSTER (edited February 28, 2000).]
Rocketbooster, At that point, we are far past tanking. Geeze! That was the ugliest game I have witnessed in years. AAAAGH! Man I had to drink a lot of beer until they switched to MN game. Anyway, I live in Dallas too, and my advice is: Get digital cable, it is worth it! Every Penny!
See this is what you get WILL for encourgering the Rockets to LOSE GAMES, on puporse!!! DUKE OF TRUTH's plan has been all along to win as MANY GAMES as we can!! This make the most sense and you KNOW why that is. Huh? Right! No ones make the playoff by LOSING!!! We win all our games, OK maybe not all (lets be pragmatable here) and then get the playoff, win the NBA CHAMPIONSHIP, then Timmy Duncan says "You know I would like to play for the Houston" and BINGO. DUKE's plan is efficraciatory in its simplissitude. ------------------ WHAAAAAAAAAASSSSUPPPPP!?? DUKE OF TRUTH IS UP UP UP!!!And away
